Interview with Angzerhornbroals from Black Torment by Jen
2007 Update: I received an email from Angzerhornbroals: 'A Sign Of Infernal Death' will be released soon on Wraith Productions (Florida) it is the first new release since 2004's 'Obscurum II - The Return Of The King' The album will feature 16 tracks that consist of 9 new songs, an unreleased re-recording of a song from the '98 demo, and the full '98 demo remastered... Depending on the release date, there might be a 3 song promo released with 3 songs from the album. Within a few days, the promo will also be on www.myspace.com/blacktorment The guitar/bass tracks for this album were recorded in the spring and summer of 2005 and the drums and vocals and everything else was recorded this past month. This is 9 new songs out of 15 which was originally supposed to be all on one album, 'Into The Black Temple Of Sodom...' but due to the fact the other 6 songs won't be able to be recorded for awhile, i decided to release this since i been wanting to reissue the '98 demo anyway, and the re-recording of 'Frozen By Time' is unique to this release and won't be on 'Into The Black Temple Of Sodom...', neither will the '98 demo. 'Into The Black Temple Of Sodom' will feature these 9 tracks (in a different order) plus the 6 songs that haven't been recorded yet, it might be awhile until that is done so this gives something to hold onto until it is finished, and it is the best BT yet. It's also being released to celebrate 10 years of the band's existence...Also i was very happy with the way the Impaled Nazarene cover turned out a couple people said it's better then the original. http://www.wraithproductions.net
The tracklist will be as follows: 01 - A Sign Of Infernal Death...; 02 - Sadness, Despair And Hate Soar At My Last Funeral...; 03 - The Last Song Of The Tormented Angel...; 04 - Sadogoat (Impaled Nazarene Cover; 05 - Into The Black Temple Of Sodom...; 06 - Merciless Angelslayer; 07 - Impurity Of Fallen Souls; 08 - The Gate Of Nanna (Beherit Cover); 09 - Fallen Empire Of Doom...; 10 - Frozen By Time (re-recording)
DEMO 1998 (Re-Mastered)-11 - Freezing Winter Night; 12 - Over The Forest (His Soaring Black Soul...); 13 - Frozen By Time; 14 - Days Of The Black Mist.... 15 - Winds Of Hate & Pain (Black Depth's Arise);16 - Blasphemer (Sodom Cover) + Outro
Also, Unsung Heroes Records (http://www.unsungheroesrecords.cjb.net) re-released 'Obscurum II - The Return Of The King' in august of '06...copy's are avaiable for $6.00 with shipping...

What made you want to get into Black Metal, versus Hard Core or Death Metal? What attracted you to that genre?
Well, i was always around it but what got me into playing it was that I was into the occult, darkness, hate, Satanism and stuff of that nature. I had been in a death metal band, nuclear nights from 1993 to 1996. i decided that black metal would be the best way for me to go due to my beliefs.
Do you listen to any other genres of music? How long have you been into Black Metal?
I listen to lots of shit, all kinds of stuff. I actually haven't even been listening to much black metal. Well, technically i been into it since i was a kid so about 14 years or so.
How is the new album coming along? When will it be released?
It is coming along great, in fact i was just recording some guitar/bass tracks just now for my next LP "Into The Black Temple Of Sodom..." I'm very happy so far of how it sounds, this is the first recording i have done since July of 2003 when i recorded the last 2 songs for "Obscurum II". I think everyone will be surprised, I think it is going to be the big pay-off for Black Torment. I want to have it released by October, but who knows. There should be an EP release by October definitely. It features a barathrum cover of "Warmetal" and a song that is going to be on the CD. The EP is called "A Sign Of Infernal Death"

How many releases does Black Torment have out to date?
The next album will be my 6th album. Black Torment has 2 official demos, and like 2 demos that were not released. The albums are as follows, Demo 1997, Demo 1998, When The Dark Emperor Returns, Black Torment (S/T), To Satanas, Obscurum, Obscurum II - The Return Of The King, and now Into The Black Temple Of Sodom...
How do you feel each release differs from the more current material you are doing?
I think the new stuff im doing now is more technical, more unique i guess you can say. Overall i think it's better then my older stuff...
Are you able to play shows being the only member? How is the IL black metal scene? Is there are strong following?
Of course, i just need 2 session members. I haven't played a show since December of 2001...We plan on playing a festival which is being set up by Nesrithen Orcgrock of Demonomancy, it was going to be for 2003 but its been postponed so now it might not take place until early next year. Yes there is a strong following, i think Chicago is probably the best place in the USA for this type of music actually. I have not seen as many people showing up to concerts any where else in the U.S.A.
What influences you and your music?
Darkness, Occult, Vampires, Hate/Evil, Death, Visions, Dreams, etc...
What kind of bands are you listening to these days?
W.A.S.P, The Chasm, Motorhead, Impaled Nazarene, Venom, Bathory, Slayer, Kreator, Destruction, Barathrum, Sodom, Pink Floyd, Incantation, Razor, Beherit etc etc...
Where do you come up with your lyrics? Do they deal with day-by-day experiences?
Yes, most of my lyrics deal with real visions and experiences...
Your web site says you are thinking of taking your site down due to childish bullshit. Can you explain what that means and your experience on the Internet to cause that statement?
Well, it looks like the web site has been taken down already...and it's not by me. I don't know what happened to it, i had changed my mind about that but i don't know how to fix it or what is wrong with it anymore its been down for months i think. There were and still are lots of children on the Internet talking shit about bands, and sticking there noses where they don't belong to say the least...

Your web site also says you do not support the commercialism in black metal. How do you feel about bands like Cradle of Filth, Emperor, Dimmu Borgir, etc? Would you ever have your band on an episode of Headbangers Ball, if given the opportunity?

No, probably not...maybe in the 80's that would have been cool. Of course as everyone knows i have had real life problems with filth of cradle of filth. I liked the Cradle Of Filth demo, the first Dimmu Borgir that was on No Colours, old Emperor is ok. I hate all of there new stuff.
Is there anything else you would like to add?
Remember what Warrior Said! - Only Death Is Real!!
