2007
Update: Received an email from Chris: Well, as far as the band
situation is concerned, the reunion is deader than Kennedy. Frank Rini had
to bow out due to family issues, and Bill Tolley couldnt comitt properly.
This left me and Brian Hobbie with a decision to make, which was kill the
reunion.
From JEN: Brian Hobbel plays in Catastrophic: http://www.myspace.com/catastrophic2001;
Guy plays in Suffocation: http://www.myspace.com/suffocation;
Bill Tolley plays in a hardcore band from NY called Punch Your Face http://www.myspace.com/punchyourfacenyhc.
Also, just heard from Chris, him and his wife just had a baby! In more baby
news, Frank and his wife Melissa just had a baby too! Congrats to them!
2005 Update: They have released new album Onward to Mecca. Also
just got off of a tour with Bodies in the Gear.
Interview
with Chris from Internal Bleeding, by Jenn
Chris,
give us your current line up.
As of 8:27 am on Tuesday morning, the lineup is as follows: Me on Guitar,
Guy Marchais on guitar, Jay Carbone on Bass, Bill Tolley on Drums and
Mike Lotito on vocals. Who the hell knows what it will be tomorrow! Hehehe.
What happened with Ray? How is the new singer
fitting in and replacing Ray?
Ray wanted to move on to college and (gasp) his girlfriend. He lives in
Wisconsin now and is doing well. So far so good with Mike on vocals. Its
all still very new, so we have to see how things go with him, but like
I said, so far so good.
What band did he play in before?
He played in Repudiation for a little while.
Are
you and Bill the only original members left?
Its with a heavy heart that I say - yes. Me and Bill are the only ones
left. I am thankful that he has stuck with the band though, as he has
the same vision of what we should sound like as I do.
Clear up the rumors, once and for all, what happened
with Pavement?
Its really quite simple. First they said we were dropped, and gave a lame
excuse: "because we are difficult to deal with" - a comment
Greg Derbas made to me because Guy (our guitarist) asked Greg "Is
there any reason you are NOT SUPPORTING this album" (meaning the
driven album). Then after that we got the sales excuse. A few months later,
we got an offer from them to do another album. Talk about confusing. We
said No thank you and took our chances hunting for another label. It's
a shame really. They were really behind us when we did our first album,
then they dropped the ball and did almost no supporting for Extinction
and Driven.
Are
you signed now?
Yes, we inked a deal with Olympic Recordings. Someone who a label that
seems to actually care about its bands. So far, so good too.
You have 2 new albums coming out. Tell us a little
about them? Have you recorded them yet?
We have the Alien Breed release, which is a 10 year retrospective - that's
due out in August. Then, sometime in October, we will record our next
release, entitled HATEFUEL. That's the plan.
Who's idea was it behind the Limp Biskit sucks
flyers? how is that campaign going? Is there another flyer in the works?
Basically Guy had thought it would be pretty cool to make a really bold
statement, and at the time we were really pissed off at all these mall
idiots perpetuating bad metal by listening to Limp Bizkit. We decided
to stand up and do something about it. Stickers, shirts, flyers, etc.
So far, so good too! Real metalheads are showing their support for the
cause of destroying bad metal! We need to send a message to people that
bands such as limp ass are false and need to be destroyed!
Are you guys hitting any of the big summer fests?
We are concentrating more on writing and refining material. We are playing
a lot of smaller shows to fill-in, but we are avoiding a lot of the fests
this year.
Tell us about your baby, the Barracuda.
It's a 1968 Plymouth Barracuda Formula S 340. I am currently in the process
of restoring it, and it should be on the road next summer. Its pretty
much all original, like it was when it came out of the showroom in October
of 1968. I am a little obsessed with the car, and have documented its
complete history
from its build date of October 1967 all the way
to me buying it. I have 2 engines for it, the first one is the all original
275 horsepower 340 (although the actual horsepower is 305 - the factory
underrated the horsepower) then I have my fun engine, which is a 425 horsepower
340. Needless to say, next summer I will beat beating the shit out of
wiggers in their hondas and taking it to the track for some bashing. I
cannot wait!
Tell
us about your web designing.
Well, I do some web-designing. Some of the sites I have done are ours
(http://www.internalbleedingmusic.com),
plus some commercial accounts. I mostly do traditional print design though.
That's where I make most of my money. I also design a lot of CDs for bands
(Fleshgrind, IB, Adnauseam, Defiled, Disfigured, etc). Most of my work
though, how I make my living is by doing complete advertising and marketing
for some pretty big commercial accounts.
If bands want you to do their CD's, what do they
need to do to get in contact with you?
Just email me at: chris@internalbleedingmusic.com
Do you need an accountant yet for your business?
(and I hope you are keeping me in mind when you do need one!)
Okay Jenn, as long as you can cheat your way into making sure I pay NO
TAXES. I got killed last year with all the money I freaking made. Actually,
I do have an accountant. His name is Stan and he rules. He even likes
IB!
Do you have any pathetic dates you would like
to share with us, for my dating page?
I wish I had some damn dating stories. I never get to go on dates. I don't
know what it is. I think its because I am ugly or something - or maybe
I am too intense. Girls just don't dig me. I am also too damn shy. Its
hard for me to ask girls out. I get really nervous. I know most people
see me as very social and outgoing, but when it comes to girls, well,
I don't know. I just get nervous. Anyway, I could tell you a complete
horror story about an ex-girlfriend who dragged me through so much hell
that I eventually had to take her to court for aggravated harassment,
and I even almost sued her for slander. That was something no man or woman
should go through. If you want me to tell you about that, I can.
Anything else you want to add?
Congrats on yer new car! Finally! Woohoo! I am psyched for you. That damn
old one sucked. I cannot stress enough that we really appreciate all the
people who have stood behind us for the past 10 years. When everyone else
in the press and other music circles tried to write us off, you stood
firm in your commitment to us. We hope we haven't let you down. We will
constantly evolve and constantly strive to push forward. Check us out
on the web at http://www.internalbleeding.us/
Thanks Chris!
