Estuary and tons more! Check out his website for more info! And no, Chris
has never paid off his "bet" with me.
2005 Update: Chris is still kicking ass and taking names. Lots

Interview
done with Chris Forbes of Metal Core Zine, by Jen
Hey Chris, first off, how is the paper zine
coming along? Are you still doing it, or is it more a web zine now?
I have stopped doing the paper version of the zine because it became too
much of a pain in the ass to get ads and to get payment of the ads ha
ha. It is easier to do it on the web as reviews can get posted faster
and no 10,000 copies of my mag to give out and ship everywhere.
How long have you been doing the zine?
I have been doing the zine since 1986. The 1st issue came out in December
of 1986 and I printed 150 copies.
Out of all of the millions and millions of bands
you have interviewed, who has been your favorite?
I would have to say the time I interviewed Gene Hoglan from Dark Angel
and Chuck (RIP) from Death when they played the Ultimate Revenge show
in Philadelphia, PA many moons ago.
How many copies of the zine do you normally
print up?
Since issue 25 came out I was doing 10,000 copies and getting out all
of them. I have no back copies of any issues left.
How do you get them circulated as much as you
do? Do you have distributors?
I would get rid of like a thousand at Vintage Vinyl up in Woodbridge,
NJ. The rest I would give out at shows and mail to various stores and
record distributors that would pass them out.
Who does the art work on the cover and in the
zine?
Brad Moore used to do an unholy job on my covers. Jenn I am sure you will
agree the cover of issue 27 was great with the Metal Mafia girls right?
That was a great cover! I loved it! Any big shows
you are going to be going to soon?
I probably will go down to the Maryland deathfest in May.
Why are you such a big fan of the Rangers? I
mean, it's not like they win or can make it to the play off's or anything?
Cause they rule and they have the Messiah (Mark Messier) on the team.
All I have to say to you Jenn is 1975 and still counting ha ha.
Yes, I know that date. But when was the last
time the Rangers won the cup? 1994? And when was the time before that?
Oh, 1940? That's a loooooong time! I'll let you know when we have a 54
year difference between cups. Are you still managing Immolation?
Yes I am still working with them. I set up interviews for them and help
promote them whenever possible.

What is new in their court? New albums? Tours?
Well they have a new cd out on Olympic and I think a re-release of the
Stepping on Angels cd and a dvd coming soon.
Who are some of your favorite bands as of now?
I love the band The Accursed out of Mass. Also Sappic ODE and Circle of
Fear have been in my stereo as of late.
What were your top 10 releases of 2002?
Well that is a tough question since I like so much different stuff. My
favorite release was the new Immolation cd and my favorite web page is
on your web site where you did a tribute to me and it is still blank ha
ha
Nothing on my page is ever blank, but I do have
some docted up pictures. Anything super good releases that you have received
from 2003 so far?
The new Emperor is quite good. The new Sappic Ode stuff I heard I like
a lot.
Give me some predictions, Rock vs. Stone Cold?
Should Hogan retire? Lessnar, the next big thing?
Austin will beat The Rock as he is doing more movies soon. Yes Hogan needs
to retire and yes Lesnar gets the belt soon.
Anything else you would like to add?
Thanks for the interview and I really look forward to paying off my bet.
Let's set a date and time and I dare ya to walk around before I pay up.
NY Rangers rule baby.
