LILLIAN AXE: LILLIAN AXE TO SUPPORT SHOCK ROCK LEGEND ALICE COOPER - IN SUPPORT OF NEW ACCLAIMED RELEASE, ‘WATERS RISING’! Think of ‘theatrical rock legend,’ and Alice Cooper immediately comes to mind for many. And the shock rock godfather couldn’t have picked a more deserving band to support him on a string of upcoming southern dates – Lillian Axe. After an extended hiatus, the group – which is comprised of Derrick LeFevre (lead vocals), Steve Blaze (lead guitars/vocals), Sam Poitevent (guitars/vocals), Eric Morris (bass), and Ken Koudelka (drums) – recently unleashed their first new studio album in nearly fifteen years (and first for the Metro City Records label), ‘Waters Rising.’ Originally formed in 1983, the New Orleans-based group soon caught the attention of Ratt manager Marshall Berle and MCA Records, leading to the release of the group’s self-titled 1988 release (produced by late Ratt guitarist Robbin Crosby), 1989’s ‘Love and War’ (produced by Tony Platt, who previously worked with AC/DC), 1991’s ‘Out of the Darkness into the Light,,’ 1992’s ‘Poetic Justice,’ and 1993’s ‘Psycho-Schizophrenia’ (the last two of which were produced by Leif Mases, who previously worked with Led Zeppelin). Additionally, such Lillian Axe tracks as “Dream of a Lifetime,” “Show A Little Love,” “True Believer,” and a cover of Badfinger’s “No Matter What” received attention from rock radio and MTV. By the middle of the ‘90s, Lillian Axe opted to take a break, although a collection of previously unreleased material was issued in 1999, ‘Fields of Yesterday.’ With metal once more ruling the charts and the airwaves by the early 21st century, Lillian Axe was back in business with live shows, resulting in the release of their first-ever live album, ‘Live 2002,’ recorded in Houston, Texas. Roadwork has continued for the band - including playing to 27,000 fans at Germany’s Bang Your Head Festival in 2004, as well as an extensive European tour a year later. With new singer LeFevre recently replacing longtime frontman Ron Taylor, ‘Waters Rising’ sees a whole new metallic chapter unfolding for Lillian Axe. Despite the long break between studio albums, ‘Waters Rising’ has been steadily receiving its share of accolades, including a write-up by All Music Guide, which raves “If ‘Waters Rising’ were released in the late '80s, there's little doubt that its video clips would have done battle - and held their own - alongside Iron Maiden and Queensrÿche on Headbangers Ball.” Additionally, KNAC.com gave the album a four and a half star rating, saying “[Steve Blaze] is the visionary of what he wants the band to be, and as long as he’s a part of any musical endeavor, you KNOW to expect nothing but the best!”

SPV USA: Damn, SPV's been busy! New titles are shipping like mad!
Helloween / Gambling With The Devil: The new album from Germany's power metal gods has arrived and longtime fans are going nuts! The band recently announced a North American tour coming this spring with Gamma Ray, meaning rare jams with original vocalist Kai Hansen are to be expected.
Moonspell / Under Satanae: Following up last year's critically-praised Memorial album, Under Satanae digs up past gems from pre-Wolfheart days and showcases them in a modern re-recorded and super avant garde style that'll satisfy the hunger of both new and longtime fans alike.
Sodom / The Final Sign of Evil: Another classic band re-recording classic early material as well as some unreleased tracks, German thrash warriors Sodom unleash The Final Sign of Evil, and also reunite the original lineup with Chris Dudek (a.k.a. Witchhunter) and Josef Dominic (a.k.a. Grave Violator) rejoining Tom Angelripper at the helm to bring the bands' filthy original sound back all the way.
Iced Earth / Framing Armageddon: Something Wicked part 1: Press and fans alike are literally shittin' kittens over the epic new release Framing Armageddon, inarguably one of the biggest priority releases for SPV USA this year and one of the most important metal releases for the year overall!
Freedom Call / Dimensions: Melodic German power metal icons Freedom Call return and once again deliver what their diehard fanbase is fanatical about; technical, beautiful power metal professionalism.
Axel Rudi Pell / Diamonds Unlocked: One of Germany's longstanding guitar virtuosos, Mr. Pell's new Diamonds Unlocked showcases several tracks of his own newest material alongside multiple cover songs of classic rock and pop artists including U2, The Who, Kiss and more.
Hatesphere / Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes: Response still positively flowing in on the Danish act's latest full-length of blistering modern Euro-thrash Serpent Smiles and Killer Eyes.
Kamelot / Ghost Opera: Another one that just doesn't stop astounding metallers is Ghost Opera, Kamelot's latest accomplishment.
Raging Speedhorn / Before The Sea Was Built: The UK's mosh-bringers return with their newest assault of rampant dual-vocal hardcore sludge - this time also featuring the infamous Bloody Kev (Helvis, Hard to Swallow, etc.) on one of the microphones.

WOLVES IN THE THRONE ROOM: Grim and purifying black metal from the forests of Cascadia! The second full-length release (first for Southern Lord, the previous album on Vendlus Rec's) from this powerful trio. An incredible amount of depth, power and conviction along with mature song-writing and incredible musicianship give them their own undeniably unique sound. The groups willingness to experiment with unconventional methods of recording and collaborate with avant-garde musicians sets them apart from the mundane normalcy that plagues many Black Metal albums as of late. Two Hunters was recorded on tape, at London Bridge and Aleph Studio by Randall Dunn (Earth, sunn 0)))/Boris, Kinski) in the Pacific Northwest.. The process of the recording was very organic with very minimal use of any digital effects or manipulation. Jessica Kinney (previous collaborations with Eyvind Kang and Asva) provides beautifully dark vocals on "Cleansing" and "I Will Lay Down My Bones Among the Rocks and Roots." The disc comes packaged in a 5" mini-gatefold thick cardboard jacket. Wolves are also recording a bonus track for the LP version of the album coming later this year. Hear a sample of the new Wolves material on their Southern Lord press page: http://www.southernlord.com/press/wolvesinthethroneroom/

SIKTH: Adam of Rock World TV (http://www.rockworld.tv) has posted a show review of Sikth’s last show which took place at Islingon Academy, UK. “Like them or not it’s hard to understate Sikth’s influence on UK metal over the last few years – bursting onto the scene in 2001 their near un-definable sound (spazcore is still my favourite term for it) draws inspiration from, but isn’t restricted by, hardcore, thrash, metalcore, jazz, punk and more. From the get go they stood out as unique and have arguably changed the course of a wide range of underground British music in the last few years, as is evident from the number of similarly styled genre-bending hardcore metal bands prowling the smaller venues of the country these days.” Adam goes on to describe the evening’s events: “There’s a fantastic vibe in the room as the gig progresses, with not a hint of any tension or breakdown in communication. Hardly a song goes by that isn’t followed by a speech from one member of the band or another, thanking each other for the time together over the last seven years, remembering the good times and the bad, and thanking the crowd for lapping it up at every show.” The full show review is online at The Daily Rock’s website: http://www.thedailyrock.com/2007/09/21/sikth-last-show-ever-at-islington-academy/

EVERYTHING'S RUINED: Do you like Testament, Unleashed, Cryptopsy, Carnivore, Eyes of Fire, Into Eternity, Municipal Waste, Belphegor, etc? Good, so do we! Difference is, we've played with all those bands, and got more gigs on the way! Everything's Ruined needs a new singer and bassist. Ass ripping, face melting, skull crushing metal. Requirements: Singer - AGGRESSION. No pussy "singing" shit. All aggression all the time. - have a stage presence - have a brain. Bassist - have gear. sounds like common sense, but i've had people walk in with just a bass, not even a case or gig bag or strap. - have a brain. Both - 21+ - transportation is helpful. driver's license is a must. we do quite a bit of distance gigs, and we all take turns behind the wheel. - be mellow - be able to contribute financially. rent, gas, merchandise, etc. - be willing to gig a LOT. This isn't a hobby, we're in it to win it. - be RELIABLE & DEDICATED - have a brain - no drug addicts. we're no saints, but I'd hate to have to track you down and kill you because you decided to sell all our gear for crack money. rehearsals (for the moment) are in Mount Vernon. WHITECHAPEL: The Somatic Defilement is the debut album from rising extreme metal band Whitechapel. The album is from the new American cooperation between Siege of Amida (UK indie metal label) and Candlelight Records. Named for the famed London district in which serial killer Jack the Ripper stalked his prey, Knoxville's Whitechapel are sure to quickly impress the masses with their blistering death grind. Mastered by Alan Douches (Nile, The Red Chord, The Acacia Strain) The Somatic Defilement fuses together the sheer brutality of death metal, the chaos and technicality of grindcore, the bludgeoning heaviness of sludge, with an added dash of groove on top. A noted characteristic is Whitechapel’s three guitar assault; without a doubt and impressive apocalyptic sound. Propelled by the band’s DIY ethics, Whitechapel is a driving force that will continue to grow through hard work and determination. A video has already been completed for the song “Vicer Exerciser” and tons of tour dates are planned through the next few months with more to come. http://www.whitechapelmetal.com; http://www.myspace.com/whitechapelmetal

THROWDOWN: Some photos taken of THROWDOWN performing at Vans Warped Tour at Darien Lakes NY are online at THE DAILY ROCK: http://www.thedailyrock.com/2007/09/04/throwdown-warped-photos-autographed-cd-booklet-giveaway/. Anyone leaving a comment about the photos or anything related to Throwdown will be eligible to win a signed booklet of the band’s new release “Venom And Tears” (Trustkill Records). 5 Autographed CD booklets will be given away. Throwdown's new full-length, Venom & Tears cracked the Billboard Top 100 debuting at #81. In addition the album landed at the top spot for radio trade, FMQB's "Metal Detector" chart and # 2 most added at College Radio's, CMJ chart. The band just finished a headlining slot on the Ernie Ball Stage at Warped Tour all summerand have been generating a deluge of positive press on the new album. In addition to the new issue of Revolver showcasing vocalist Dave Peters cross-interviewing Max Cavalera for their "Rebel Meets Rebel" feature, some choice quotes have landed including those below: "This is a much more expansive, daring album than Vendetta, featuring longer songs and a greater diversity of influences while retaining that core pummeling heaviness the band has built its metallic hardcore rep upon." Outburn "The hardcore scene's answer to Pantera's classic Vulgar Display Of Power, with vocalist Dave Peters barking like a younger, stronger, and more virile Phil Anselmo." Hit Parader "Venom" is an anthem for a new era in history and music. While most bands have turned their sites [sic] to a more over-processed, "safe" sound, Throwdown has reinvented stripped-down metal and made it their own." THIRD DEGREE: The newest, second full album of Poland's Third Degree entitled "Punk Sugar" has been finally completed. The album consists of 12 songs more into early TD material with a hint of complex, slow songs known from "Outstay" album. The bassist Fazi comments: "Punk Sugar" is actually a product of our earlier work, it's more old school and includes Czarny on vocals, our old singer. We are pretty satisfied with final result. Let's hope the fans will enjoy it the way we do. Punk Sugar is slated for Autumn 2007 release via Selfmadegod Records. The tracklisting for the album will be: 1. From Simple Punks 2. Millennium Of Recycling Christ 3. Twelve Millions 4. Where Is The Consumation? 5. Thoughts 6. Dead Will 7. So Long Bastards 8. Punk Sugar 9. INTRONAUT: We are very excited to debut the new song "The Challenger" from Intronaut's upcoming album entitled The Challenger in stores October 30th! Check out the Translation Loss or Intronaut MySpace pages to hear the new track, and don't forget your helmet!!!Also, Leon Del Muerte has quit Intronaut to pursue new musical endeavors. He will be reactivating his long-defunct Murder Construct project as well as continue to play bass in Phobia. He says, "I had a lot of fun playing and learning new things with Intronaut and got to tour with some great bands and made a lot of new friends. Ultimately, I feel I've just strayed too far from my roots and could not hold back the other members of the band with my single-minded desire to grind. Peace, bitches!" Replacing him will be our long time friend Dave Timnick. Dave is a very talented and proficient musician, we're stoked. In addition to being a great guitar player, he is also a skilled percussionist and has studied tabla with Aloke Dutta. We can't wait to get things going with this revamped lineup! Watch for more updates on The Challenger and Intronaut in general from Earsplit in the coming months....

DIRTY SOUTH REVOLUTIONARIES: Queen City's Dirty South Revolutionaries to tour behind new full length! The Dirty South Revolutionaries' hard-hitting punk antics will be taken on the road in August and September to promote the release of their new album, "Queen City Underground" on New York's Tent City Records. DSR came together in 2004 from the filth and sultry heat of the city streets of Charlotte, NC. Each member had been in other high-profile local bands based out of the queen city, but none had found their real niche in the scene before the formation of Dirty South Revolutionaries. From their do-it-yourself punk roots and metal/death influences to their hardcore virtues of integrity and brotherhood, the band presents an eclectic blend of music's most aggressive genres. Prepare to have your ears assaulted by the sweet sound of "Queen City Underground."

OM: A new dawn awaits!! Southern Lord Recordings and Om have set October 2nd as the official release date for their 3rd (first on Southern Lord) full-length album!! This beast is entitled: “Pilgrimage” and was recorded at Electrical Audio in Chicago, IL. by Steve Albini. The album is currently being mastered by Bob Weston (also in Shellac) at Chicago Mastering Services. "Pilgrimage” expands on their unique use of riff,,, cadence…chant..as heard on previous recordings yet finds the band expanding their vision into new territories. Of particular note is how much the song-writing has developed and in turn makes the dynamics of the songs much more intensely powerful. The track-listing for “Pilgrimage” is as follows: 1. Pilgrimage; 2. Unitive Knowledge of the Godhead; 3. Bhimas Theme; 4. Pilgrimage (reprise). A gatefold LP version of the album will also be released sometime shortly after the CD release. http://www.omvibratory.com

SLOUGH FEG: Hardworlder is the sixth studio album for American legend Slough Feg. This band has the ability of progressing further year after year, tour after tour, album after album. Where this ability comes from it’s easy to say, it can be simply found in their perseverance, in their normality somehow, in their being true a belief: to play Heavy Metal outside of schemes, of momentary trends. Today they are finally recognized as one of the leaders of the US metal community, claimed as “influence” by young bands and artists. The cover artwork, by American cartoonist James E. Lyle, strengthens this concept; the “Hardworlder” is a man who’s been through lot of perils but still keeps on ticking... It can be seen as a metaphor of what Slough Feg was during all these years in metal. But the album itself is a tribute to Rock Music, with the best guitars ever heard on a Slough Feg album, and the precise and always present rhythmic section. Producer Justin Phelps, incidentally an original member of Slough Feg himself, gave the right 70s focus on an album which also delivers two delicious cover songs, the Irish Folk Rock classic “Dearg Doom” (originally performed by Horslips) and the Manilla Road's “Streetjammer”. Line up: Michael Scalzi - Vocals/Lead guitar; “Don" Angelo Tringali - lead guitar; Adrian Maestas - bass guitar; Antoine Reuben-Diavola – drums. Hardworlder is part of the “Try Before Buy” Cruz Del Sur campaign. It can be heard fully online: http://www.cruzdelsurmusic.com/hw/prev_hardworlder.htm; http://www.sloughfeg.com; http://www.myspace.com/sloughfeg

WIDOW: Since the release of their first album Midnight Strikes, Widow has represented a sort of melting-pot of the 80’s Hard Rock / Heavy Metal culture and the modernity of melodic death metal mainly expressed by their fast guitar-riffing and vocals. Lyric-wise they always liked to play with werewolves and witches burnt at stakes, with the great tradition of 80s horror movies (Basket Case and the such), movies that in a moment were vulgarly despised as “B movies” but which in the end, have influenced a whole generation of young Americans. With Nightlife, Widow returns today, going even further back into American hard rock history, back to the late 70s, dragging their inspiration from the most-glamorous Big City Nights! Widow are the bastard sons of Alice Cooper, their sharp guitar-riffs the heirs of the glorious smoking-axes of Rhandy Rhoads and Eddie Van Halen, to whom they pay their tribute covering their classic “Ain’t talking Bout Love”, not forgetting the Masters KISS’ with “I Stole Your Love”. Nightlife is an album that smells of fast cars, neon lights and Son of Sam – the ideal soundtrack for the heat of Summer 2007! Line up: Chris Bennett - Lead Guitars & Death Vocals; Peter Lemieux - Drums & Backing Clean Vocals ; Joshua Pantke - Bass & Backing Grind Vocals ; John E. Wooten IV - Clean Vocals & Guitars. http://www.widowusa.com; http://www.myspace.com/widow

SPIDER ROCKETS: Band confirmed to support Lillian Axe September 16th to October 2nd. The third release by New Jersey’s own Spider Rockets, entitled ‘Ever After,’ has been picked up by three labels – Locomotive, Screaming Ferret and Ryko – who have just issued the album. ‘Ever After’ sees the group working once more with producer Martin Bisi (whose resume includes the likes of Dresden Dolls, Helmet and Sonic Youth) – who had produced Spider Rockets’ previous two releases, ‘Preview’ and ‘Flipped Off.’ "It’s really good to see our CD getting out there," says Spider Rockets’ frontwoman Helena Cos. "Very cool that we are gonna be reaching more people." Formed in the late 1990s and led by Cos, Spider Rockets’ sound can be described as ass-kickin’ hard modern rock meshing the grunge vox stylings of 7-Year Bitch with the radio rock sound of Velvet Revolver or Godsmack. Al Muzer from the Aquarian Weekly agrees with this assessment, by declaring "[Spider Rockets] continues to crank out the crunchiest, catchiest, most melodic, mean-riffed and caustic metal noize since L7 and 7-Year Bitch gave way to the likes of Sleater-Kinney." The band, which has shared the stage with some of rock’s most renowned names, will be supporting the issue of ‘Ever After’ with extensive touring.

PARAGON RECORDS: Label Update - Charnel Valley new album out now! Vorkuta lineup/release updates! New Rigor Sardonicous album announced! New Paragon signings Darkestrah and Aetherius Obscuritas! Charnel Valley's sophomore album, The Igneous Race is now available. The album maintains the bands brand of primitive Black Metal, and also incorporates a slight trace of early Finnish Death Metal, reminding one of early Belial or early Amorphis. Still recorded in the same spontaneous manner, as the bands debut, 2005s The Dark Archives, The Igneous Race features a fuller production, yet totally genuine to the concept of Black Metal. A track from the album has been posted: http://www.paragonrecords.net/mp3/01%20Blackfist.mp3
"Dirty and stripped to the bone, the duo's style is about as far from polished and/or symphonic black metal as it gets, and that's the way it should be." - Blabbermouth. Hungarian Black Metallers, Vorkuta, have announced the addition of a permanent drummer, Khrul, who is also known for drumming in other Hungarian Black Metal bands such as Witchcraft, Marblebog, and Vérzivatar. Vorkuta's first release together with their new drummer will be a split 7" EP with Japanese Thrashers Abigail. A split 7" with Kratornas will come out via Paragon Records later in the year as well. Vorkuta hail from Hungary and play a cold and desecrating form of Black Metal. At times attaining the atmosphere of Blood, Fire, Death era Bathory as well as the traditional style of Black Metal found on Darkthrone's Total Death album. Check out a track from Vorkuta’s Into the Chasm of Lunacy: http://www.paragonrecords.net/mp3/Gargoyle.mp3; http://vorkuta.uw.hu/index.html; http://www.myspace.com/vorkutakorps
Vintage Darkthrone and Bathory are the obvious reference points, yet Vorkuta delivers in a style that is brimming with character and distinction. Top it off with a sound mix that is raw, yet not basement-produced, and an instrument clarity that is much better than what is heard from most bands of this ilk and the end result murders with conviction." - Metal Maniacs. New York Doom duo, Rigor Sardonicous, have revealed information on their upcoming new album, entitled Vallis Ex Umbra De Mortuus due out on Paragon Records this fall. The album continues on in the Rigor Sardonicous tradition of Raw Apocalyptic Doom. The album will be issued in multiple formats and each will contain bonus material. The CD version will feature a video track of an old Rigor Sardonicous track "Sleepless". The vinyl version will feature a rendition of the Tears For Fears classic "Mad World". Album artwork and song previews of the album will follow shortly. The track listing of Vallis Ex Umbra De Mortuus is as follows: 1) Mane de Maeroris 2) Siens Somnium 3) Incompertus quod Anon 4) Laudare Apocalypsis 5) Alveus de Somnus 6) Prophecies I - Preapocaylptia 7) Agony 8) Rex Regis Fortuna *Mad World - vinyl version only *Sleepless' video on cd version. http://www.smilingdeath.com/RigorSardonicous; http://www.myspace.com/rigorsardonicous
Paragon is proud to announce our latest two signings Darkestrah and Aetherius Obscuritas. Darkestrah have been playing their brand of innovative black metal since 1999, releasing three acclaimed albums, Sary Oy, Embrace of Memory, and Epos. While Darkestrah is now based in Germany, the band formed in the central Asian country of Kyrgyzstan. Previous works have been described as a spiritual, almost pre-historic journey, using pagan themes in a very unique way, often paying homage to the bands Shaman roots. Great melodic parts were paired with traditional instruments like Kyl-kyjak, Komuz or Sygyt. Female Black Metal vocals and singing that created the atmosphere of the spiritual shamanic people. Darkestrah's brand new album will be out in early 2008 through Paragon Recs. More info, clips, and photos on Darkestrah can be found on their site: http://www.darkestrah.vze.com

CRADLE OF FILTH: Vocalist Records Theme Song For Dario Argento’s Latest Horror Epic Mother of Tears: The Third Mother. Band Confirmed To Headline Bam Margera’s Viva La Bands 2007 Tour Grammy-nominated, British shock rockers CRADLE OF FILTH have delved towards a new level of darkness. Vocalist Dani Filth recently recorded vocals for the theme song to Dario Argento’s latest horror/suspense opus Mother of Tears: The Third Mother. The song, entitled “(She’s) The Mother of Tears” was composed by Claudio Simonetti. Simonetti, a veritable legend among horror film scores, is also noted for penning music to such classics as Dawn of the Dead, Suspiria, Phenomena and several episodes of the popular series Masters of Horror. Says Dani Filth on his experience working on the film, “'It was a real honor to be asked to work alongside Claudio Simonetti from Goblin, especially as it’s the last of a trilogy for a Dario Argento movie. The whole project has been very exciting to say the least. I received word that my services were being demanded of and I was especially delighted to have been given free reign with the vocals, both musically and lyrically, preserving the lush choir that forms the backbone of the chorus. The result is a four-minute homage to the last and most dangerous in a trio of powerful witches whose aim is to enslave the world. Having finished the song (which is intended for the film’s credits), I am now tense with anticipation for seeing the how the two work together... the film apparently rocks!” Mother of Tears: The Third Mother concludes Argento’s cult trilogy that began with Suspiria (1977) and Inferno (1980) and revolves around the resurrection of demonic witches in Rome. The film stars Asia Argento (Land of the Dead), Udo Kier (Grindhouse, Rob Zombie’s Halloween), and Cristian Solimeno (Footballers’ Wives) and is slated for a late autumn worldwide release. It is rumored that this film may also be the last directorial outing for Dario Argento, whose horror career has spanned almost forty years and included such cult films as Deep Red, Demons and Tenebrae. This experience continues CRADLE OF FILTH’s growing trend of offering dark music to films and making the films rather darker. The band’s previous soundtrack credits include Underworld: Evolution, Alone In The Dark, Resident Evil: Apocalypse, Ginger Snaps, and Faust. Cradle of Filth is also spreading the darkness over North America this autumn as they are confirmed to headline Bam Margera’s Viva La Bands 2007 North American Tour, presented by Rockstar Energy Drink. CRADLE OF FILTH is touring alongside some of Bam Margera’s other favorite acts, including CKY and up-and-comers Vains of Jenna. Says the band’s outspoken frontman Dani Filth, “The Viva La Band's tour promises to be a great musical outing for Cradle, mixing it up with a very eclectic bunch of bands. Bam is a good friend of ours, and when we heard that he was putting together a tour that would hit all the major markets in America, we just jumped at the chance to be a part of his lunatic vision. Where CKY supply the heavy melodic groove, Cradle Of Filth as headliners will give the American audience the proverbial kick in the bollocks they so rightly deserve. Fall will never be the same again! Viva the damned!” Cradle of Filth is known for its singular stage show and is matched only by its indomitable, dark, heavy, ‘gothic romance’ rock music, which has been brilliantly displayed on the latest Roadrunner Records release Thornography. The album, which firmly planted itself on the Billboard Top 100 Chart upon its release shocked and awed America, as Entertainment Weekly deemed it “excellent” and “gruesomely themed.” Thornography’s brooding energy was accentuated by guest vocals by goth rock hero Ville Vallejo of H.I.M. and Doug Bradley (Pinhead of the Hellraiser film series and longtime CRADLE OF FILTH collaborator). A special edition of Thornography, featuring brand new music and video footage is currently in the works for an early October release. Cradle of Filth’s sinister music and outrageous stage show is primed to be the ideal backdrop to the imminent Halloween season. With the infamous Bam Margera behind the band and an arsenal of ghoulish mischief in tow, autumn is sure to be anything but ordinary.

CRUCIAL BLAST headlines:
SOUVENIER'S YOUNG AMERICA... damn they're groovy! Lush, shimmering guitar ambience and hypnotic, propulsive instrumental heaviness wind through the dusty highways and burnt twilight skies of An Ocean Without Water, the sophomore album from Richmond's Souvenir's Young America. Divided into six flowing movements, An Ocean Without Water is filled with intensely beautiful melodies that drift on lonesome harmonica strains and sparkling, celestial electronics, shot through with mystic, western slide guitar, passages of crushing angular riffage, rolling tribal drumming, and transcendent blues. Through their intricate song arrangements and moody textures, Souvenir's Young America has created an epic, emotional narrative. The sound draws from the collected DNA of forebears like Popul Vuh, Earth, Labradford, and Neurosis, yet they form a powerfully evocative instrumental language all of their own. Features collaborations with Aughra (Magic Bullet Records) and Nick Forte (Sublight Records, ex Rorschach / Beautiful Skin). http://www.syarva.com; http://www.myspace.com/souvenirsyoungamerica
YEAR OF NO LIGHT shed light on dark music without much light! As part of our current plundering of the French art-metal underground, Crucial Blast has re-released Nord, the colossal debut from French ensemble Year Of No Light that was originally released via the French label Radar Swarm earlier in 2006. Year Of No Light bring an amazing set of songwriting chops to the 10 songs that make up Nord, a heavy, chugging metallic monster that channels both gloomy atmospherics reminiscent of The Cure, and crushing Neurosis-inspired dirgecore, heavy and raw but at times extremely beautiful. To us, YONL's Nord seems to orbit the guitar-heavy early 90's alt rock of bands like Swervedriver and Dinosaur Jr., The Cure and My Bloody Valentine, just as much as it draws from the dirgey, metallic, crushing post-hardcore of Isis and Neurosis. Sure, there are a ton of bands out there that touch upon similar influences, but we can't think of anyone recently (other than Envy) that has delivered an album in this style that is quite this catchy and well-written. Nord flows seamlessly between passages of ultra melodic rock and frenzied bursts of dissonant, crushing hardcore, to austere radiant guitar figures and gorgeous Troum-esque ambient drones, to massive doomy metal, utterly gorgeous Loveless-esque melodic bliss, and some almost folksy, but unbelievably EPIC riffs, with powerful, strained vocals fighting through their wall of sound. http://yearofnolight.free.fr; http://www.myspace.com/yearofnolight
Northern France's MONARCH! will collapse your fucking eardrums! Hailing from the picturesque Northern Basque Country of France, Monarch! unleash a slow motion avalanche of impossibly glacial, blackened sludge and hypnotic feedback, each song a series of epic tarpit riffage stretched out eternally over lumbering drums and the cavernous rumble of speaker cabinets. Over these yawning expanses of black void appears the demonic, throat-shredding shrieks and ghostly singing of Emilie, whose petite appearance belies one of the harshest throats in the underground Doom spectrum. Beyond heavy. Monarch!'s mega-crawling ambient doom/drone/sludge follows in the grand tradition of fellow tarpit adventurers Melvins, Corrupted, Noothgrush, and Black Sabbath, and accompany their music with an iconoclastic design style that decorates their material with deceptively cute imagery drawing from the collective influence of Sanrio, Japanese animation, European graffiti, weirdo hardcore, and skateboard culture. This double CD set contains both Monarch!'s newest album Die Tonight, and the now out-of-print Speak Of The Sea LP, both released in limited vinyl editions as European imports, with additional unreleased songs exclusive to this release. The North Amercian version of Dead Men Tell No Tales is presented in an offset-printed, 4-panel case printed by Stumptown Printers, with all new original artwork in the band's unique design style. "Quite possibly the world's only female fronted deathdoomdronedirge outfit. An unholy mix of Khanate, Corrupted, Bunkur and Moss, but with a petite young French woman on lead vocals, usually clad in Converse hightops, a skirt and a sweater, hair in a pony tail, no tattoos or spikes or leather, but when she opens her mouth, out comes the foulest demonic shrieks and hellish gurgles you have EVER heard. Certainly from a woman, maybe from ANY one, man, woman or beast." - Aquarius Records http://www.myspace.com/monarchuberalles
SKULLFLOWER IIIrd Gatekeeper reissue coming to kill you! I gotta say, this has been a dream project for us, and it's taken awhile to get the ball rolling, but we are now in the process of working with Skullflower's Matt Bower in putting together a re-issue of one of our favorite Skullflower albums ever, 1992's IIIrd Gatekeeper. Featuring the lineup of Matthew Bower (guitar), Stuart Dennison (drums and vocals), and Anthony DiFranco (bass), IIIrd Gatekeeper is an immensely heavy album that was originally released on HeadDirt, the label run by Justin Broadrick of Godflesh/Jesu/Final fame back in the early 90's, and featured the band grinding out slow, sludgy riffs and crushing, almost industrial rhythms amid a tempest of psychedelic guitar noise and dense sheets of feedback - easily the most crushing music that Skullflower ever produced. IIIrd Gatekeeper served up a skulldozing dose of post-industrial dirge rock that sat comfortably next to Godflesh, Swans, and Ramleh in terms of dark, druggy, hypnotic lumbering heaviness. This is one of our favorite albums ever, and we are working on giving this a great presentation...new liner notes have been commissioned, we're working with Matthew Bower on a package design that will contain all of the original artwork yet will improve on the original releases jewel-case package, and the album is being remastered. We're shooting for a Fall release date and we'll be posting more info here as this project develops. http://www.monotremata.com/skull
Australia's GREY DATURAS to re-issue Dead In The Woods on the 'Blast! That's right, we're going to be re-issuing the 2004 monsterpiece from the Melbourne, Australian trio Grey Daturas just in time for their mammoth 2 month tour of North America slated for this autumn. Long out of print and originally released through the Crashing Jets imprint, Dead In The Woods is a massive exhortation of lumbering metallic sludge rock, freely improvised noise, and sky-streaking psychedelia. This re-issue with feature a full remastering by Scott Hull at Visceral Sound, and will also come with a brand new packaging design via a 4-panel case printed by Stumptown Printers. The band has already scorched these shores with national tours, and when we drop the new re-issue of Dead In The Woods in early September, the band will be supporting that release as well as their upcoming new release on Neurot Recordings with an extensive tour that will include a trek across Alaska (!). More details on this upcoming dose of druggy, crushing free-rock will be appearing shortly. "If the Melbourne sunshine puts a smile on most of its native's faces, this must be compensated for by the scowls of the Grey Daturas, an improvisational three piece intent on wiping all that is bright, clean and decent from the sunkissed land and drowning it in a muddy grave in the gape of the Pacific. "Repeat Until False" rides leaden and brutal, striating and immolating all in its path. "The Hanging Man Is No Peacock" twists in the wind, Bonnie Mercer's guitar harmonics like crows picking the corpse's eye while the sullen and cruel drums and bass of Robert McManus and Robert Mayson look on with impassive, unflinching, sunken stares. Although they cite the Stooges and Sonic Youth as influences, this is altogether darker." - The Wire http://www.greydaturas.com; http://www.myspace.com/greydaturas http://www.crucialblstrecords.net; http://www.myspace.com/crucialblastrecords

COLLIDE: Resident Evil: EXTINCTION We are ultra excited to announce that Collide's cover version of "White Rabbit" will be used during the end credits for the upcoming feature film Resident Evil: Extinction. Yayyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy. The US release date is 9/21/07. They are also using a snippet of it on the trailer!!! The movie stars Milla Jovovich and looks pretty damn hot ... in a zombie end of the world kind of way =). You can view it now on YouTube. In other great news...there will also be a new super cool remix of "White Rabbit' on the soundtrack for the movie. The remix is done by none other than Dean Garcia, and is called 'White Rabbit' SPC ECO Mix!!! We will let you know as the soundtrack becomes available. More crazy good reviews for Ultrashiver...thanks so much to all the people who have taken the time to listen and review it, we have overwhelmed with all the wonderful response (Happy Twirl). *****Ultrashiver is the pick of the month!!!! Ultrashiver is the Pick of the Month on Playmusic Magazine, out now on line http://www.magwerk.com. Thanks to Sergio Manghina. This is the coolest online music magazine we have ever seen!!!!! It is a must see....Wowwwwwwww.... It's the magazine of the future. Go and pick "PlayMusicMagazine", the pages turn and interact...you will LOVE it. We love it and they listed The Secret Meeting as pick of the month!!! "...Ultrashiver is so much more; it is a gift from three artists with an impressive degree of maturity playing on genre borders." Release Magazine--Thanks to Peter Marks http://www.releasemagazine.net/Onrecord/orsecretmeetingu.htm
It is official. I no longer miss Curve. I'm over their dissolution thanks to this wonderous new record from Curve's Mr. Dean Garcia and LA duo Collide. Dean's been a busy man since Curve ended, his solo works have been amazing, his venture with KMFDM members Sacha and Lucia was solid but all of his work has been missing the one aspect I never figured he'd find again: a vocalist to fit his musical stylings. He's found it with Collide's kaRIN, my friends. I do not know how it is that this band was put together but I can only thank them for doing it. "Beautiful Noise Machine" is very aptly named. Subdued guitar work, low-key beats, luscious vocal harmonizing and then a chorus that'd have done Curve proud. A lot of this work I wonder about the origin of. Then again, it's so well tailored to fit kaRIN's voice I have to accept that I'm listening to something decidedly addictive. I picture windows being kicked out by black, shiny boots somewhere in the middle of nowhere when I hear this tune. "Blacker Than Blue" sleekly arrives after with the sort of builds Collide are famous for but there's that damned Garcia knack for inserting hooks into places you'd never think of. Drifting... luxuriously narcotized synthesized bliss. You want to let it all go and then you cannot, the alchemy of Statik and Dean just will not let you. The crunchy guitar riffs hit hard, the sing-a-long words form a chain... struggle all you like, you'll only wind up harming yourself if you turn this album off. Kindly make more of these, all involved. This meeting won't be a secret for long. Underground Press -- Thanks to Tess. http://www.undergroundpress.co.za
Ultrashiver is the debut release from The Secret Meeting, a collaboration between Dean Garcia (ex-Curve) and Collide members, kaRIN and Statik. It's an intricately woven artpiece, where emotions, imagery and sound capture the perfect moment. The voluptuous voice of kaRIN liquefy the sensual melodies and lingers long after it fades into silence. To cage the sound into a genre would break the delicate enchantment it possesses. Ultrashiver is ethereal velvet, extravagantly vulnerable and enticingly pained a splendid epic! Import CDs -reviewed by the Minister of Information - Stephen Schnee. http://importcds.blogspot.com/
The Secret Meeting is kaRIN and Statik from Collide joining forces with Dean Garcia, formerly of the UK Britpop shoegazers Curve. Some would call their music ‘Gothic Electronica’ but there is so much more to The Secret Meeting than meets the ear on the first listen. The word ‘Gothic’ conjures up images of darkness, hopelessness and torment. The Secret Meeting, on the other hand, create atmospheric sounds that swirl around like Electro-Psychedelia, allowing enough light in to create shadows within the textures of their music. Their ethereal vibe and warm production breathes hope into Modern Rock and vocalist kaRIN, with her Kate Bush-like coo, creates a mood that casts away demons instead of drawing them in. So, in essence, Gothic they ain’t! Their songs are rhythmic without being classified as ‘Dance Music’ although you can actually move along with the infectious grooves that seem to gravitate within the context of each song. The first set of songs, produced by Garcia, are more guitar heavy than Statik’s productions on the second half of the album, but the mood that each set of songs creates an underlying tension that continues to build throughout the album, although the tension is never too much and there are moments of beauty around every corner that helps to relieve that tension. There are highpoints on the album including ‘Every Little Thing’, ‘Shooting Laser Beams’ and ‘Touch’ but this is a work that is best heard as a whole. Remix Contest. We are just now going through all the remixes that were sent in for the upcoming release of 'Shooting Laser Beams'. Thanks so much to all the remixers involved for taking your time, effort and passion to do a remix for us.!!! We love hearing all the different versions. We will be going through and making an announcement when we can, however just to let you know it will still be a little while before the single will be released. We just sent a big mailing of 'Ultrashiver' out to 250 College Stations, so most stations should have the CD and some might even play it. Please do us a favor call your favorite radio station and request it. Let them know you want them to play it...every bit helps really. Hidden Sanctuary http://www.live365.com/stations/mavjb. Thanks to the people behind the scenes...like Mike V of Hidden Sanctuary who spends his time and energy to help expose underground music purely for the love of music. Thanks Mike it means a lot to all of us...go listen to the station...there are many great artists to discover....tell Mike we said hi. So now if you really have bothered to read this far...your probably thinking wow...they must be, selling tons of CDs...well the answer is not good. Seems like people are not bothering to buy CDs much any more...the whole industry is changing....look around at the schools ... art and music is going away. It's starting to feel a little dismal...if we do not find a way to speak up and help support art and music it will become a thing of the past. It will become increasingly impossible for us, or any other artist to continue and pay all the expenses involved in releasing music. Also, support those people, magazines, clubs and radio stations and websites who do the hard work to expose underground music. If you enjoy an artists music, any artist and you have been able to enjoy it for free...find a way to give back. If this has meaning to you in our case...you can buy something...anything here...a t-shirt...a poster...a sticker even. So now...if we haven't lost you already with the harsh realities of today's music world and your still reading...we just had a very sad experience of someone close to us taking his life...there was a lot going on for him and I guess he felt it was something that he needed to do. We loved him and we will miss him and there will be a little less light in the world. To anyone out there... life has its ups and downs...some days are hard...life can be tough for all of us and lonely...just know that even on the toughest days...life will get better. Sad things mean time to change...do something differently. We do really care...about you and about the world in general...people need to speak up more. We had been thinking about making a thread on the forum to talk about important issues of life and the world...I think we will do just that. Come to discuss if you have something important on your mind. So I guess that's all for the moment...more soon. http://www.collide.net; http://www.myspace.com/collide

DAY WITHOUT DAWN: Day Without Dawn (formerly The Postman Syndrome) have recently parted ways with guitarist/vocalist Jim Stang, and as a result had to delay the recording of their forthcoming record. They're currently looking for potential members to flesh out a new lineup. They posted the following list of requirements on their website: "So we're in the market for a member or two. The three things that are really a priority for us are... a) That you can tour at least three months a year, preferably more b) that you can bring something of quality to the table musically c) that you're not a dick. Otherwise, we're pretty open to instruments and musical taste. We're definitely not looking for a second drummer or bassist (unless you're a bassist who owns a stick or a warr), but guitarists, vocalists, horn players, keyboardists, string bowers, etc, especially a combination of the two, send us an email or myspace message. We'll chat. It'll be nice. It should be noted though that although vocal ability is a plus we're not looking for a lead singer unless you're Freddy Mercury reincarnate (or at least very, very good). If you feel like you're right for the job you can contact the band at: Band@DayWithoutDawn.com You'll also notice we put a new song online. It's a demo of one of the tracks from the new record, and fairly indicative of the direction we're planning to head in." http://www.Myspace.com/DayWithoutDawn; http://www.DayWithoutDawn.com

MARC RIZZO: Guitar Virtuoso's sophomore album out now! HOLLYWOOD (August 16, 2007) – THE ULTIMATE DEVOTION is Marc Rizzo’s solo sophomore release on Shrapnel Records. This newly mastered work of shred-art comes on the coat-tails of his critically acclaimed debut album COLASSAL MYOPIA in 2006. ERIK NORLANDER:Master keyboardist and prolific Moog synthesizer user Erik Norlander will perform at the prestigious Moogfest, the annual festival commemorating and celebrating the groundbreaking achievements of maverick inventor Robert Moog and his namesake synthesizer. Beginning at 7:30PM on Saturday, September 22nd, the fourth annual Moogfest boasts some of the most renowned keyboardists in the world. Along with Norlander, other performers include Thomas Dolby, Jordan Rudess, Adam Holzman, Spiraling, Don Preston, Gershon Kingsley, Nail, and Herb Deutsch. B.B. King's Blues Club, located at 243 West 42nd Street in New York City, will once again host Moogfest. Moog Music, located in Asheville, NC, designs and manufactures electronic musical instruments including synthesizers, effects modules, and theremins. http://www.moogfest.com . Erik Norlander has created some of the most enchanting rock music in recent years appearing on over 25 albums since 1993 with his diva spouse Lana Lane, his band Rocket Scientists, his own solo albums and numerous guest appearances. Erik's evocative synthesizer technique is reminiscent of the legendary Rick Wakeman, Keith Emerson and Jon Lord while still very unique and forward-moving in its own right. Erik takes many of the classic riffs and phrases of his heroes and reinvents them with highly emotional pitch bending, vibrato and authoritative phrasing. This technique combines brilliantly with Erik's mastery of sound and production. Erik has personally led sound design efforts on several major brand synthesizers, and his knowledge of synthesis and audio engineering are second to none. Erik's perpetual live use of vintage instruments such as Hammond organ, Mellotron and Moog synthesizer give his concerts a depth and authenticity of sound seldom seen in modern stage productions. Erik Norlander was born in 1967 in Hollywood, California. He grew up in Los Angeles studying both jazz and classical music on several instruments from a young age through his years at the university where he also graduated with a degree in English Literature. While clearly a prog rocker, Erik is surprisingly quite adamant that he prefers melody over flashy playing and strong songwriting over artsy meandering. Erik's newest releases is Hommage Symphonique, an album of classic progressive rock cover songs produced and arranged in Norlander's signature style. Previous solo albums are Threshold (1997), and instrumental progressive effort with a decidedly electronically bent and Into the Sunset (2000), a prog metal vocal album with a more traditional rock band sound. Erik's third album is a 2CD rock opera concept album with an all-star cast entitled Music Machine about the dramatic rise and fall of genetically engineered rock star. The Music Machine rock opera was released worldwide in June, 2003, followed by a successful European tour with Lana Lane and vocalist Kelly Keeling. In 2004, he released his live recording Stars Rain Down featuring concerts in Europe. Later in 2004, Erik released a wholly electronic CD titled Seas of Orion which debuted at the Dutch Alfa Centauri Electronic Music Festival where Erik headlined that year. Erik’s DVD/CD titled Live in St. Petersburg, recorded in the Russian "northern capitol", was released in July, 2006. Additional recent releases include his band Rocket Scientists’ Revolution Road (October, 2006); and Lana Lane's Gemini, released in January, 2007. Erik Norlander has been featured in the September, 2006 issue of Keyboard Magazine and the online version of Electronic Musician; interviewed on numerous radio shows including ProgPositivity and Independent Nation; and continues to receive favorable reviews in numerous publications around the world. http://www.eriknorlander.com; http://www.myspace.com/eriknorlanderandlanalane; http://www.myspace.com/rocketscientistsband
