So since I have been reading a lot lately and someone asked me to review their book, I thought it would be a good time to start a review page for books. Nothing special, nothing fancy, just a few words about some books I have read and my opinion in case I'm not the only one out there who still reads. Enjoy.

MY FAIR LAZY: One Reality Television Addict's Attempts to Discover if not being a Dumb Ass is the New Black, or a Culture-Up Manifesto - Jen Lancaster © 2010
This book was pretty bad, not my thing. I had a hard time finishing it. Some things were kind of funny, but for the most part, this was a bore from start to finish. Jen decides she wants to expand her horizons, so she tries watching new TV shows, going to dance recitals, tries new food, goes to snobby parties, etc. At the same time, her house has some problems and they were trying to fix it. I mean, give me a break, Seinfeld is funny to watch, but I don't think I could read about nothing. Oh wait, I just did.

STUPID AND CONTAGIOUS - Caprice Crane © 2006
So Heaven was noratic and crazy. An on and off again waitress. Her new neighbor, Brady, just moved in to the apartment after a bad break up. The book is broken up into chapters of what Heaven is thinking and doing, and the next chapter is what Brady is doing. So you get to hear what each of them think of the other. It's pretty amusing. Heaven pretty much leaches onto Brady, who isn't thrilled with the idea, but in the end, he gets use to it, pretty much because he has to. They date and break up, which is also pretty funny to hear their accounts of what happened. She's a free spirit and he seems to be all wound up and can't stand her carefree style. This was a cute book, I finished it pretty fast.

TRIAL AND ERROR - Paul Levine © 2007
Cute, but a little hard for me to get into. Little on the boring side for me. So, there are these bad guys who are stealing dolphins and training them and keeping them for their own use, which of course is bad. One guy ends up dead, and Steve ends up defending one of the guys who was there. Apparently if you end up dead due to an accident, and your friends are involved, then your friends get charged with the murder, which is what happened. His girlfriend Victoria is on the other side of the case. Then stuck in the middle is Steve's little nephew, who is trying to investigate the case himself, because he lost his dolphins and he wants to know where they went I don't care about dolphins, which is probably why I couldn't get into it.

LOVE @ FIRST SITE - Jane Moore © 2005
I liked this book a lot, reminded me when I was on dating websites. So Jessica is a woman in her mid 30's, who is in no real rush to get a boyfriend (sounds like someone I know!). Her friends though think she is crazy and decided to come up with a personal ad for her. Of course, she got lots of email responses and the book is about her dates with these crazy people. Some of them are hilarous, one guy leaves HER at the table with the ole excuse, I have to go to the bathroom. She has to deal with the guys who don't look like their pictures and are way worse! Great book!

OBSESSION, DECEIT, AND REALLY DARK CHOCOLATE - Kyra Davis © 2007
This book was a bummer for me, because the other two books she put out were hilarous,a nd this one was kinda weak. So Sophie's former mentor's husband is shot to death. She told the mentor she would help figure out what happened. Eventually, the mentor decided to get Anatoly, Sophie's on and off again boyfriend, to also help. They have to work together on this case, and the longer is goes on, the more people turn up dead. It's filled with twist and turns but still nothing to hold me to it. It was still funny, because the way Sophie and Anatoly fight and get along is a riot, but still, nothing like the past few books of hers.

THE SPELLMANS STRIKE AGAIN - Lisa Lutz © 2010
I love these books and I will read every one as soon as they come out! They are such a riot. So lots happening in this one. Izzy is dating the Irish bartender, which her mom is hating so it making her go out with lawyers monthly, or she will expose an old prom picture for all to see. David is hanging out with a nice girl that everyone likes, but mom again doesn't trust things, and has him followed. The doorknobs and light fixtures in the family house are disappearing. Rae is working in a law office for kicks and has taken a liking to this one closed case. I think that is everything. So putting that all together and figuring out what everyone is doing behind everyone's back is just a barrel of laughs.

DOUBLE CROSS - James Patterson © 2007
I love these Cross books, they keep me so involved and never wanting to put the book down until it's over. Alex is dating this new woman, who is a detective, while he has retired from the force and is just being a shrink. A series of murders take place, and they bring Alex back into the case, and directly involve both him and Brianna. He starts consulting on the case, and the two of them start to put the clues together of these crazy "show stopping" murders. Lots of people died, and the end will have you spinning. I figured out one of the twists rather quickly, but there were a lot of them to keep you guessing and wanting more.

8th CONFESSION - James Patterson © 2009
Couple different cases going on at once here. First, a homeless guy is found dead. No big deal, but Cindy gets involved and turns this into a bigger ordeal. Then, you find out this guy, who everything thought was helping the homeless and trying to be everyone's friend, was really a bad guy and got what was coming. Then, there is a series of murders that take place, and no one can figure out how these folks are dying, except to know it is homocide. Somehow, they are able to trace back to some murders that took place about 20 years ago, which basically breaks this case wide open for them. Lindsay also makes a very big decision on her future with Joe. Good book.

JUST TAKE MY HEART - Mary Higgins Clark © 2009
My grandmom was a big MHC reader, so when this came out I got it for her. I don't think she was able to finish it before she died though. So an upcoming actress is found dead and of course, her husband is to blame. A crook ends up confessing he was suppose to kill the actress and was paid by the hubby. The hubby is going to stand trial. Then, little by little, as more and more people pry into the crook's story, they find it was filled with lots of pin holes and the case is reopened. On the backend, the lawyer had a serial killer living next to her, and was about to be minced meat, but someone else had it in for her as well. Lots of twists and turns and it was a good page turning book.

WEED - Michael LePage - © 2004
This story is about a boy growing up and his trials and tribulations of being the "weed", or the outsider. I can relate to this book, one more than one case and I'm sure anyone who reads this book who is between the age of 26-33 will be able to as well. He has the abused mother, who did everything she possibly could to make things perfect. The alcoholic, abusive father who was having an affair on top of it all. Dealing with the divorce and remarriage of both parents (although I'm not sure how many fathers would remarry drunk). Had many different summer/after school jobs, and a few of them is where he met some of the girls he had relationships with. Of course, there is the band scene, and he had many different bands as well. Then I'm sure like most other kids, once his mom caught wind of the lyric's in the songs, destroyed his tape collection and only left him with a handful. Had a big break with one of his later bands, played a big festival and had the feeling of signing the autographs after playing, which was always cool to experience. Then, at the end, decided to start over, get away from the crazy girls, the drugs and everything else and start over in North Carolina. It's a great little story.

A REBEL LIFE: MURDER BY THE RICH - Peter Kalafatis - © 2007
So this was given to me by my friend Dave, who runs Autoeroticasphyxium Zine. I didn't get a chance to read it entirely from front cover to back covern, but I read and researched enough of it to write a review. This is basically a story of growing up on the streets of NYC. This is about drugs, violence and gangs, but he also isn't a fan of the government. It's written for the local street kids, who aren't really into reading much, but they can somehow relate to this persons tail, as if it was their own. He feels they had a hand in the death of his brother. He got himself off of the streets and basically decided, he would die on the streets, or make a better life for himself. But after his brother lost his life to drugs, Peter now wants to avenge the death by trying to bring all of the corrupt folks to justice. You will read about his struggles and life in this book. This is on the second print now. Check out more at: http://www.myspace.com/arebellifebook

DAYS AND NIGHTS IN SUMMERVILLE and V3- G.L. Giles- © 2007
I didn't get a chance to read these, but I at least wanted to mention they existed. They aren't my type of read, but I'm sure people into the vampire books would find these fasanating. Days and Nights in Summerville are some different collections pieces by G.L. Giles. The book is made up of articles, talking about book publishing, and religous. The second piece is made up of Poem's, which of the few that I read, were pretty good. The one about PMS I found pretty realistic. Part three and four are fiction writings and short stories. The second book, V3, is a installment of her vampire series. Vladina is a powerful vampyre who was emerged into Charlestonian society in 1864. The book focuses on her and her life in Charleston.

BLOOD AND HONOR- Inside the Scarfo Mob- The Mafia's Most Violent Family - © 2004 - George Anastasia
Anyone who knows me well, knows I'm a big mob buff. I love watching mafia movies, I love reading about them, I just don't want to be in one or near anyone in one. Haha. Anyway, this book has all of the details from the Scarfo reign and ultimately their fall, into now what they are known as, the Simpson's of the underworld. Harsh words for a family who caused so much terror during the reign of Nicodemo "Little Nicky" Scarfo. This story is based on Nicholas "The Crow" Caramandi. He was in the mob, at one time the ear of Scarfo, until he went into witness protection, testified in 11 trials which resulted in 52 convictions. You get to hear how he started off, just turning tricks, scamming the biggest's scam artists out there, making lots of money. You got to hear in detail about his initiation into the mob. You got details of all of the major players and their deaths. The planning that goes into some of these hits are unbelievable to read, but it is a fascinating book. This is especially interesting to me, since a lot of this happened in Philadelphia and Jersey. When they mention certain restaurants or street corners, I have an idea of where these murders, scams and other acts took place. Recommended for all who loves mob stories.

THE DIRT- CONFESSIONS OF THE WORLD'S MOST NOTORIOUS ROCK BAND: MOTLEY CRUE © 2002
This has to be one of the best autobiographies I have read...ever. This gives such a taste of what it was to be Motley Crue in the beginning, middle and the end. Each of the band members relive tales from the road, studio and just life, and the author pieces it together so they almost co-mingle. It's funny to hear something Tommy will say, for instance, being told by Vince that he "lost" his number and that's why he didn't call him to jam, but when you read Vince's chapter, he recalls something different. Saying instead of losing the number, he threw it away because he didn't want to jam. They had interviews and chapters with the guys from the label as well. This was an out of control band and to hear the stories about groupies will make you cringe. I would be surprised if half of the chicks are still alive to this day! It's funny to hear what they think of other hair bands from that era too. A must read for all music fans.

RINGMASTER - Jerry Springer and Laura Morton - © 1998
Anyone who knows me, knows I love watching the Jerry Springer show on my days off from work. So when I saw this book was out, I wanted to get it. Of course, it took me about 8 years, since the book came out in 1998, and I only bought it this year, but it was a good find for sure. Of course, this is a biography about Jerry Springer, so about half of the book is about his life before Jerry. Background on his parents, living during WWII, his trip to America, school, growing up and all of his runs on TV and in politics. Then, it gets good and starts going into details on the show, some of the past guest and the real backstage info you don't also see, which I find interesting. Any fan of the Jerry Springer show will want to read this.

UNDER THE MAT - Diane Hart with Kirstie McLellan - © 2001
I'm a wrestling fan as most people know and I heard this book came out and then was pulled from the shelves almost immediately after it hit. To me, that means there is stuff in there that I wasn't suppose to know about Vince McMahon and the WWE. That started my search on Ebay looking for it and much to my surprise, I got it and didn't pay as much as I was expecting to. This is all about the Hart family, who I do have to say is fucked up. Everyone seemed to be related, one way or another to them, by blood or by marriage or just being trained in the "dungeon" by wrestling legend Stu Hart. There was rapes, drugs, beatings, children, affairs, death and so much more. This is a great book that gives one families insight to the wrestling business and who fucked up it really is.

SEX, LIES AND HEADLOCKS, the real story of Vince McMahon and the World Wrestling Federation - Shaun Assael and Mike Mooneyham - © 2002
I buy a lot of wrestling books, and let them collect dust until I'm out of everything under the sun to read, then I'll read one. I always pass them off to my wrestling buddy Craig for his opinion first. After I gave him this book, when I saw him the next month for a paid per view, he gave me the book back and said you have to read this, it's good. Well, as my friend usually is, he was right. This has all of the dirt on the WWE, from the very very beginning, when TV was barely even out there, before Cable. It starts with Vince's dad when he was just a kid, taking over the wrestling business and ending with Vince, until there was no competition left. It talks about the steroids, from beginning to end, including the trial and who was involved and when. It will shock you the wrestlers named. It takes about the WCW and how that landed in Vince's lap. Everything you want to know about the shady business of Vince is in this book.

THE GODFATHER - Mario Puzo - © 1969
I could never review this book, there is nothing to review about it. The Godfather is my favorite movie of all time, I even have a picture of Brando in my office at work. This book did take me a long time to read, only because I have seen the movie more times than I can count, and I can recite the movie from memory at any time. So the book follows the movie closely, or should I saw the movie follows the book. There are a lot of additional pieces of this book, there is actually an entire section on Johnny Fontane that wasn't in the movie. A lot more pieces are explained a little better, and it combines some of the elements from the movie, parts 1 and 2. If you are a fan of the movie, which every one should be, then you want to check out the book too. Apparently there are about 15 books, all starting from this book. I have bought them all and I hope to get through them one day soon.

THE SUCCESSOR - Stephen Frey - © 2007
I probably would have ilked this book a little more if I didn't start it at the end of school. I started it when I finished my 2nd exam and then I gave myself about a week before I started studying for my finals. The other problem with this book is there are so many characters, if you don't read the book consistently, you will start to get the mixed up and confused, which is what I did. It was a good book, and I enjoyed it a lot, but I should have read it at the end of my semester. There is a chairman of a huge equity firm, named Christian and he was asked by the president to go into Cuba and overtake their government. He was excited about it, but then all of these plots started, some to kill him, some to overturn the president for his involvement, etc. In the end, it was some serious thriller material, and I didn't want to put the book down. I'll read more from Stephen Frey, for sure.

WRONGFUL DEATH - Robert Dugoni - © 2009
OK, I'm all about giving new authors a try and this book looked to be a legal thriller, which is a the kind of book I like. Right away, I knew I made a mistake. The guy is a good writer, but I didn't know he was a political/legal thriller author. I'm so not into politics and I certainly don't want to read about them. Oh well, even though this wasn't my thing, it was a good book. A woman's husband was killed in Iraq and she wanted to sue the government. This lawyer, who hasn't lost a case in a long time, was up for the challenge. There were a lot of twists and turns and plots and conspiracies. There were a couple more characters than I like too, so it was a little hard sometimes to remember who they were. I probably wouldn't read him again, but I'm glad I got to at least read one of his books.

FORGET ABOUT IT - Caprice Crane- © 2007
Here is a book I found on line, as part of one of those deals from Barnes and Noble, buy 2 get the third free. Love that. So whenever I do that, I always make sure to buy completely new authors. I lucked out here, because this book was great! Took me no time to finish it. So this girl Jordan hasn't had the best of luck. She lets her tool boyfriend walk all over here, and the same goes for work. She is riding her bike to work one day, in NYC, and gets hit by a car. She lands herself in the hospital and has this genius idea....To fake amnesia! I love it! She turns into the person she has always wanted to be, but it comes with a price in the end. Very cute book, I put this author down to read more!

SHOOT FROM THE LIP - Leann Sweeney- © 2007
I borrowed this book from my great grandmom, although, she's dead now, so I guess I don't have to return it. Anyway, this was a little slow for me, but I'll give this author another shot (I think I borrowed a few books of this author from my great grandmom). Abby is a PI and is brought on as a consultant for a TV show to investigate one of their current guest. Emma has been raising her sisters and brothers since her mom left, which was always thought to be a drunken binge. Except, with the help of Abby, they find out she was murdered. Abby is on the mission to find out exactly what happened to Emma's mom. She has some hurdles, the TV show is looking for the inside scoop first, to exploit Emma on national TV, but Abby is pretty cleaver in her ways.

FRACTURED - Karin Slaughter- © 2008
So I have bought most of Karin's books previously, mostly because they are always on the bargain bin, so why not. This is the first one I actually had the chance to read and I liked it. Granted, it was pretty sick and twisted, but it was good. Right up my alley. A mother comes home to find her daughter (so we are lead to believe) murdered in her room. She thinks the burglar is still in the house and she ends up killing him. Except, that wasn't her daughter and he wasn't a burglar. Once you get around the investigation, which could drag a little, you get the nitty gritty of the story. The last couple chapters had me, I wasn't able to book the book down until I finished.

THE SPELLMAN FILES - Lisa Lutz - © 2007
I was looking for bargin books and I came across this one when I said find me something like Janet Evanovich. This actually did remind me of the Stephanie Plum series. It was so funny, there were times I cracked up out loud. This family, the Spellman's, own their own PI business and that is all any of them know. The mother spies on the kids, the father bugs their rooms, and the two daughters, 28 and 14 have been working PI since they could walk. They also have a crazy uncle, who disappears for weekends at a time, usually on a gambling binge that takes the entire family to retrieve him. The main daughter, Izzy, has gone through many boyfriends, and investigations and has so much conflict and drama it's funny. Anyone who enjoys the Plum series, should pick up this series. There are two more after this one and I will have them both read before the month is out.

CURSE OF THE SPELLMANS - Lisa Lutz - © 2008
This book was so funny, and my grandmom said she didn't care for it. We are always right on the mark with each other, I can't believe she didn't like this. Lutz reminds me of Evanovich, so I laugh from the first page to the end. John Doe moves in next door to the Spellmans and Izzy is convienced he is a murderer, a fellon or something. She has tried everything to figure him out, include breaking into his house, (a few times) and finally he put her in jail. A few times. Her parents kick her out, and then they ban her from doing any investigations for them. At the same time, her brother, who has married her best friend, is having problems in the marriage and she is determined to figure out and solve the problem. She takes up using her sister to try to spy, which just gets her into more and more trouble. Cute book, lots of funny parts and craziness!

REVENGE OF THE SPELLMANS - Lisa Lutz - © 2009
This series is quickly turning into one of my favorites. They are so damn funny! I can usually finish them without a few days of starting, because I never want to put them down. Izzy is taking some time off of the PI business and is helping Milo at the bar. This is great for her, but it is driving her parents crazy! They want her to do something with her life, and she enjoys sleeping all morning and working at the bar for tips. She takes a small job on the side, to follow a man's wife because he thinks she is cheating. It gets a little complicated but she is able to get back into the swing of things without missing a beat. Of course, there is the normal drama of Rae and Detective Stone. The weirdess thing of them all, David goes on a trip for a month without teling anyone what he is doing. This doesn't sit well with Izzy and she trys to find all of the clues to help her solve the mystery of David. He of course knew she would do that and planted some tricks of his own. Awesome book.

KILLER HAIR - Ellen Byerrum - © 2003
I was actually a little disppointed with this book. It was OK, but nothing great. I thought a book about hair and a murder would be out of this world, but I was a litlte wrong. It was just a little slow for me. Lacey writes for a newspaper about fashion. She hates it. Then, a hairdresser ends up dead, cops rule it a sucide ands he thinks there is foul play. Not only is she trying to solve the case for the police, she is also trying to get the story before anyone else. Of course, the main cop on the case, is an ex-fling of hers from a completely different state, what are the odds?? There are crazy plots, more crazy characters and an ending that might surprise you; it did me.

THE BREAKUP CLUB- Melissa Senate - © 2006
Cute, funny little book. Very fast read, very juicy. This is about four different people, who are all linked together by either family or work and their struggles with becoming newly single. Lucy's finds out her husband is going to leave her and eventually does and shacks up with a very younger, prettier woman. Miranda is wishing her ex-boyfriend would come back to her and wraps her entire life around the hope that one day he does. Christopher is working out being a weekend dad and trying to meet people in the process. Finally, Roxy, who leaves her husband to be at the alter for a job interview. They all think they are so different from each other, until they get together and realize they are pretty much the same.

SAVANNAH BLUES - Mary Kay Andrews - © 2002
So, I got this email from Barnes and Noble and they said if I bought 3 paperback books, I could get a 4th for free, or something like that. I decided to go with all new authors and this one was a steal! Such a cute little book and an easy read. Weezie is the main girl, she is an antique dealer (kind of) and she is living in the cottage house behind her former residence. The residence is being occupied by her ex-hubby and his new wife to be, the reason for the divorce. Long story short, the new wife to be ends up dead and the small little town is in an uproar trying to find the person responsible. Of course there is some love in the mix with a hot old fling/new chef. This books has lots of conspiracy theories, lots of loving, family issues and antiques!

LITTLE BITTY LIES - Mary Kay Andrews - © 2003
So, after reading the first book by Mary Kay, I decided to try this one and I think I liked it more. Real quick read, took about 3 days. There are two main characters, Mary Bliss and her crazy friend Katharine. Mary Bliss had the perfect life, or so she and the town thought, until one morning she woke up with a Dear John note. Her hubby left. She was shocked and didn't know what to do, except pretend he was dead! Her and Katharine had planned to have an accidental death, and in the hopes Mary would get some of the life insurance policies. Of course that did not work, and caused a whole lot of headache! She also had a teen daughter who was in that angry stage giving her grief and rebellion every step of the way. All of the the problems she had just stemmed from that one little bitty lie she told.

HOLLY'S INBOX - Holly Denham - © 2007
I love gossip, even more when it doesn't have anything to do with me. This book was a must read for that person who loves to hear about other people's gossip! It's a long one, about 700 pages, but it was so good, it took me less than 2 days to read. Once you pick it up, you won't want to put it down. Holly, the main person, starts a new job and her email from those couple months are in this book. From her nasty co-workers, to seeing her ex-lover at work, from her new fling, to her breakups, her crazy family and insane brother. Her parents want her to settle down and marry, her brother wants her to finance his porn club, her co-worker is the meanest person for the first few weeks, but then she seems to warm up. A lot. She starts seeing someone at work, who is also seeing someone else, and this all unravels in her emails. It's great and I loved every little minute of it (and I felt dirty ready it!).

HOLLY'S INBOX: Scandal in the City- Holly Denham - © 2010
This book was as good as the first. I saw it was coming out and pre-ordered it months in advanced, then I forgot about it until it showed up at my door. Who the hell pre-orders books? I'm such a nerd. Anyway, Holly is back and her email is fired up again. She still has her friends Jason and Aisha, she has her romance and crazy family, but now she is promoted to manager. Although, managing Trisha is a little tough, she holds her own...at least for a while. Then, there ending wasn't as big of a shock for me, I actually figured it out half way through the book. Regardless though, each Inbox that comes out, I'm going to read it, because it's so fun reading other people's gossip!

NEW TRICKS - David Rosenfelt - © 2009
I love books that involve dogs. So this is another book based on the attorney Andy Carpenter. In this book, he is forced to be the lawyer for a hyper dog named Waggie. It involves custody with a step mom and son. Well, the mom ends up dad, but the son is to blame. Then, Andy decides to take the case and represent the son. More people end up dead, people are trying to kill poor Waggie and it's up to Andy and his team of lawyers, girlfriend and Marcus (Yuh) to help him out. There is a big twist at the end and the one person you never thought had anything to do with it, ends up being the mastermind. Took me two days to finish, I couldn't put it down!

THE ATTORNEY - Steve Martini - © 2000
Never heard of or read this fellow before. I got this from ebay, when I just bought a pound of murder mystery, thriller books. It was OK, not my favorite book of all time. The first 100 pages is just setting up for the story, and that was a little long. Then, they get into the plot, but the story really takes off during the last 50 pages or so. Finally, I came to the point that I wanted to keep reading. Basically, there is a grandfather named Jonah and he had custody of his daughters kid. She was a druggie, in and out of jail with some major ties to bad people. She came one day, took the kid and fled. There was only one person who knew where she was, and somehow, she ends up dead. Jonah is to blame for this and Paul, the attorney, had to figure out a way to prove his client did not do it. He was a stubborn old man and refused to give in to pressure and just settle. Proves out to be the right thing in the end. Maybe his other books aren't so slow.

FATALLY FLAKY - Diane Mott Davidson - © 2009
This was actually a pretty funny book. I was amused by it, and it didn't take me long to read. Goldy has her own catering business and has been around town for quite a while. She has a pretty reputable business. All summer, she has been planning the wedding of a woman named Billie, who is a socialite, and a real pain in the rear. She changes her mind about her food less a few times before her big day and changed the date a few times too. Goldy keeps on trying to make this wedding perfect. The problem is, during all of this, her godfather, and also doctor from the town, is killed. She is crushed, and while she is trying to do the wedding, she is also trying to find out what happened to her godfather. She is sneaking around, trying to see if she can uncover this mystery, before she too gets herself killed.

BEING COMMITTED - Anna Maxted - © 2004
Another book I got in my Barnes and Noble free paperback deal. I liked it, but the main problem was the woman who wrote the book was English. I felt like while I was reading it, I needed to be reciting it in the English accent. There were a lot of terms we in America don't use, but in England they don't, so sometimes I was like huh, what's that? The worse part was, the book was me, to a T. A woman named Hannah is dating this guy Jason and he proposes and she says NO. Then, 3 weeks later, he is engaged to someone else, probably a rebound thing. She is super upset and then tries to get him back. He has a laundry list of items he wants her to change and she tries to change them all. The only problem, part of the list was to make amends with her ex husband. Well, one thing turns into another and they fall back in love. Then, out and then back in, with Jason in the middle. It was scarey how much this character reminded me of me, with her views and thoughts on relationships and love. I don't think though I would get another book by her, but I"m glad I tried this one.

THE KILLING HOUR - Lisa Gardner - © 2003
My grandmom found this author/series I think by dumb luck. She called me late one night, around 9:00 (which is late for me) to tell me all about this new author she found, new series and how I'm going to love it. Of course, she knows me too well, because this was a great book. Scary at some points, but keep me wanting more and more each night, which is probably why I finished this small print, 450 page book in 4 days. So we have a killer who takes victims in two. Leaves one for dead, with clues and leaves the other abandoned somewhere, with no supplies to survive. Usually the cops are about a day too late in every case. This one starts off in VA, a dead body left at a training camp for FBI up comers. Rookie agent Kimberly finds the body and teams up with an investigator from GA who has studied this killer very well, since GA is where he did most of his killings before. There is a twist though, this time the killer took 4 girls, not two. This is filled with twists and turns and every time you expect something to happen, it's the complete opposite. Very entertaining. My grandmom bought her whole series and I'll be reading them one by one....

THE PERFECT HUSBAND - Lisa Gardner - © 1998
Great book- The first 200 pages were just the build up and the last 200 pages were on your seat, heart pounding, what is going to happen next type reading. This is a story about a woman who's husband turned out to be a serial killer. She was the one who turned him in and he said he would get even for it. He was a brutal killer and made each person he killed suffer greatly. She decided to seek her own help and found a mercenary to help her train and shoot a gun, although she is still weak and no help in the word could get her enough protection from this beast of a man. The ex-hubby broke into the safe house, killed the officer and then kidnapped their child. I'm not giving away anymore of the book, but I will say the rest of the book was chilling. This is one of the better mystery books I have read in a long time.

THE NEXT ACCIDENT - Lisa Gardner - © 2001
Another great book by Lisa. Probably if I had the time, this would have been done in a weekend, but this was my in-between class book and I only got to read it 45 minutes a week. Pierce Quincy ends up losing his one daughter, his ex wife, his father and almost his second daughter and on again, off again girlfriend. He was being set up to take the fall for these murders as well. It takes them just about to the very end to figure out who and why was doing this to Quincy. I don't think much more could happen to him in this book. Lots of great action and it just makes you want to keep reading and not put the book down.

THE OTHER DAUGHTER - Lisa Gardner - © 2001
This was my in between classes book. Normally it takes a full semester for me to finish one, but this time I found myself getting to class early, on purpose, just to read what happens next. This book had so many twists and turns, I couldn't keep up with them all. A kidnapping, a murder, money, an adoption, more money, a hospital scandal, and once again money. You won't believe the ending. This book had me wanting more every page I turned. An FBI agent is investigating a scandal in the hospital, but somehow gets involved with a 25 year old mystery and family secret. All in the middle is a woman named Melanie, who up until this book was written, life was perfect. Great book, but I'm a little sad it didn't include the main character in some of her other books, Quincy. He was there for a chapter and that was it.

HIDE - Lisa Gardner - © 2006
Damn, this book had so many twists and turns and high and low points. It took a little while to finish, but it was a long book with small print. Here we have Annabelle who lived in a different city every two years, because her father made their family leave each city for a new city. No one ever told her why. Her mother died eventually and her father died horribly in an accident years later. She never understood why. Until one night on the news they found a well down in the earth and bodies of 6 girls. Then the pieces of this insane story started unweaving. Lots of accusations of who did it, lots of blaming and finger pointing and lots of sleepless nights for the police officers, especially detective Bobby, who started to fall for Annabelle. The book had some slow parts and right when I was ready to finish the chapter and call it a night, the last sentence, would be the hook and I would want to read more. The last 100 pages were key in this book, and I read them all without stopping. Other than a few slow parts, this book was a great one.

THE SURVIVORS CLUB - Lisa Gardner - © 2002
Excellent, excellent book. Read it pretty fast. I forgot home much I liked Lisa's books, they are action packed and gripping from the beginning to the end. In this one, there is a serial rapist who attacked and killed some women, but there were three survivors, hence the name of the book. There was a young woman in college, a business woman and a housewife. They formed this survivors club and with their help, the police were able to catch the person who attacked them. Problem is the guy dies but his DNA is still showing up in new victims. So the cops have a wild goose chase on their hands and the rapist is starting to terrorizing the old victims. In the end, the last few chapters is when the entire book falls in place and it's a nail bitter. There is a twist so insane at the end, you will be shocked. It's shows you how the rapist is linked to the girls, but you'll never guess it.

SAY GOODBYE - Lisa Gardner - © 2008
I gave this one to my grandmom first, and she kept saying how there were spiders in the book. I didn't know what she was talking about, but she said it was real good. I kept putting this book off and finally, I decided to pick it up. It was something that left me feeling so creeped out, I can't look at a spider again in the same light. There is a guy on the loose, killing hookers. He also has a thing for spiders. He tortures women and he gets off with the spiders watching or being a part of it somehow. Real freak. Anyway, he is killing people, and Kimberly has to track this guy down, with the help from a hooker, who is just messing with her, setting her up. Quincy comes into the picture too, to help out his daughter. The ending is pretty messed up too. This whole book is messed up, but super good.

THE NEIGHBOR - Lisa Gardner - © 2009
Well, since I just read Say Goodbye and I was so ready to start another one of Lisa's. They are so good, once you get into her series, it's hard to stop if you have another one lying around. This book didn't have the Quincy family in it though, a brand new detective. So this woman is married and all the sudden disappears in the middle of the night, leaving alone their 4 year old daughter. The husband is closed off and won't help the cops with anything so automatically he is a suspect. There are so many ties to this husband, it looks like he is going to go away for a long time. They even try and interview the daughter, who saw something, but no one can figure out what. Then, there is the neightbor who is a felone, so they start looking at him too. It's a guessing game with no real good evidence, until the end. There are so many how's and if's in this bookm you won't be able to put it down. The ending i s pretty shocking too.

ACCIDENTAL IT GIRL - Libby Street- © 2006
I found this little book in the bargin bin at B&N. It took me a little while to read it, I was into it, but nothing was holding me to turn the page or read the next chaper. It was cute though. This girl Sadie is a member of the all famous paparazzi. She gets a rather unflattering picture of Hollywood's bad boy. The guy gets furious and starts stalking Saide, or she finds out later. He follows her everywhere she goes with a camera, taking pictures, selling them and made up stories to tabloids. It's the funniest thing, but he gets even. I'm sure most actors can appreciate that. She has a crazy roommate, and of course the best guy friend, and a mom who wasn't the best mom ever, but now is trying. Good book.

SEX, MURDER and A DOUBLE LATTE - Kyra Davis- © 2006
Finished this book in a matter of days. Another book in the bargain bin, and after I read this, I went out and bought the entire series. So Sophie is a mystery writer and all the sudden, the guy was going to put her book to a movie commits "suicide". She doesn't believe it and when someone the guy is linked to is also found dead she has more suspicion. However, it doesn't connect until she is the next target! She thinks she is dating the killer, she thinks her best friend is dating the killer, and she is going crazy trying to safe her own life. The cops don't believe her so it's up to her and her friends to figure this all out...alive!

PASSION, BETRAYL and KILLER HIGHLIGHTS - Kyra Davis- © 2006
OK, So after I read the above book, I bought Kyra's whole series. It was so good I couldn't not. Plus, I wanted to see what happens with Sophie and her man, kind of. Sophie's sister hires Anatoly, her one day future boyfriend, to watch her husband because she thinks he is cheating. That's fine, except thing thing anyone knows, he turns up dead. Now, Sophie's sister is blamed, she is taking the jilted, jealous crazy wife title. There are lots of secrets in his life and the police aren't helping to clear her sister's name. Anatoly, against his better judgement, decides to help crazy Sophie and her crazy sister. Hopefully this time he won't end up almost dead!

HUSH - Anne Frasier - © 2002
This is definitely one of my favorite books so far. I found this on Barnes and Noble, when I said Lisa Gardner, give me similar books, and Anne Frasier came up. Lisa actually gave a short review on this book, said it was chilling, among some other things, and I knew I had to read it. The Madonna Murderer is what this book is all about. This horrible man, who went around killing unwed mothers and their new born sons. He almost killed this lady named Claudia and did kill her son, by the grace of God, she made it through. She moved, changed her name, appearance, everything about her. Only one person knew she was alive. Sixteen years later, the murders start again and that one person who knew she was alive called her in as a consultant on the case. This was a longer book, and I finished it in less than a week. The last 100 pages are the key, suspenseful pieces of this two decade long puzzle. You won't stop reading it once you pick it up.

PLAY DEAD - Anne Frasier - © 2004
This book was a little on the edge of books I really don't care for. It had a lot to do with voodoo and spells and that sort of stuff. I don't like reading books with that in it, I think they are boring. But this book didn't forcast a lot on that part. Just parts here and there for some details and background. Basically, someone is turning hookers into zombies, so to speak. Injecting them with a drug that slows their heartbeat down to basically non existent, but they were still alive. Couldn't move, but could see and hear what was going on. It is up to detective Elise and new partner Gould to figure out this mess. They thought it was all around this crazy voodoo princess named Strata Luna. Then everyone around her started dying, and the detectives knew they had a far bigger problem. Not bad, it wasn't as good as Hush, but still a good thriller.

FEAR NO EVIL - Allison Brennan - © 2007
This is a freaky book that my local grocery store was selling. I bought it one day and I finished it two days later. I couldn't put it down. There is this FBI agent who is underground and has all of the bureau looking for her and promised her head on a platter if she came out of hiding. She was trying to track this insane man, who was kidnapping young female adults and then showing a live feed to the victim via the internet. They would rape and torture them, and the viewers, who had to pay 25K to watch, would dictate what would happen to her next and also would control how the person was killed in the end. Luckly, the girl who was kidnapped this time around had a whole family of former cops, marines and doctors. They never gave up looking for her and it cost some of them their well being and their lives. There were so many twists and turns in this book, I loved it, despite the sick nature of the book. I went out and bought the rest of the series.

SPEAK NO EVIL - Allison Brennan - © 2007
I really like this lady's books. It's a shame she doesn't have more. There is only one more book in this series, but she has another series out, I'll have to try one of them to see if it's good. Her books are demented though. So this book has a killer and his trademark move is sealing their mouths shut with glue. This guy will be friends with someone, stalk them for a little while without the person knowing and then kidnap and torture them. There were quite a few dead bodies in this book before the detectives could figure out what was going on. This was the first book in the series, so I also got to learn more about the main detective, Carina, who in the last book was kinda messed up in the head from something that happened to her previously. Great book, sick and demented, but great.

YOU CAN'T HIDE - Karen Rose - © 2006
I picked this out of the pile of unread books, because Lisa Gardner, another author I really like said it was a great little thriller that keeps you on the edge of your seat. She was right, I finished this book within 3 days. So this psychiatrist, Tess, has an enemy and he and stalking her. He is also listening to all of her conversations with her patients. Then, he will coax them into killing themselves. Of course, Tess gets the call usually 5 minutes too late and by that time they are dead. She is a firecracker and fights the cops every step of the way. They think for most of the case, it's actually her offing her patients. But then they founds bugs, camera's and microphones all over her clothes, house and office. Turns out to be someone close to Tess in the end doing all of this horrible stuff, because she was jealous of the life Tess had. Not bad read at all.

BOOK OF THE DEAD - Patricia Cornwell- © 2007
I had read one of Patricia's books before, At Risk, and wasn't a fan. Thought it was a little boring, nothing gripping to it. So I was a little hestiant in reading another one of her books. Someone at work told me this book was good and let me borrow it and she was right, this was a great book. What I saw was, Risk was part of another series that is looked like she just started, but this Book of the Dead is part of the Scarpetta series, and I liked it a lot. Glad I bought the whole series on ebay. Another murder mystery that is really well written. There is a murderer on the loose and he is torturing his victims. He is also sending pictures to this shrink right before he kills them. He is known as the sandman, because he pulls the eyeballs out and fill the sockets with sand. This mystery has people from even Italy working on solving the crime. He preys on his victims, for months at a time and just when everything is perfect in his eyes, he goes after them. The end is crazy how it all comes together, and how they catch him, but it's a twisted tale that will keep you interested from beginning to end.

FROM POTTER'S FIELD- Patricia Cornwell- ©1995
So I decided to move to the other end of the spectrum with this book - The Book of the Dead was from this past year, and I wanted to read some of her early stuff, so I was happy to pick this one out of the bunch. This is a pretty gruesome book, and the twists and turns are crazy! The characters have evolved a lot in the past 15 years and it's nice that I was able to see the beginning of the history between them all. There is a crazy killer out there, killing everyone in sight, just trying to get to Dr. Scarpetta and mess with her head. The killer just keeps striking everytime they get a little closer to him, or finding more clues. They end up getting too close for comfort when Kay's niece gets involved in an undercover operation to try and catch him. Great book, lots of gripping chapters.

THE FIFTH VIAL - Michael Palmer - © 2007
I had a heck of a time getting to read this book. First, I had to order the book because it kept selling out of the local Barnes. That's great for my favorite author, but bad for me, since I had to wait. I should have pre-ordered. Anway, I got the book and it's over 600 pages. Maybe work is getting to me more than I thought and I'm starting to look old. Real old, because the book they ordered for me was a BIG print. Meaning, it has like 3 words on a page. Not really, but I could read the book from about a mile away. Then I lent the book to my grandmom first, who forgot she lent it to my great aunt, who forgot she put it away when she was done reading it. So the book was missing for about 6 months. Then, they found it, and gave it back to me, but then I misplaced it. I put it in a spot where I wouldn't forget where it was, and I forgot where it was. Then, I didn't remember I got it back, and convienced grandmom she still had it. Needless to say, I just finished it. This book is real good and it took me less than 3 days to finish it. There are three different stories going on at the same time, but they all come together later in the book. There is a woman who is a med student, who takes a trip down to South America and has an operation unwilling to her. Then there are these messed up dudes who are paid to kidnap certain people, based on blood type. Last, there is a private eye, who gets hired to identify a John Doe, who gets in too deep with his investigation. My review sucks, because I read the book a while ago and I don't remember it completely, but it was a great thriller and while I was reading it, I loved every minute of it.

THE FIRST PATIENT- Michael Palmer - © 2008
Another quick read for me, which stinks, because then I have to wait another year for Michael to put out another book. So the president calls up his college buddy to be his chief doctor. He has a problem, and he is trying to hide it from the public. His original doctor disappeared out of the blue one day, which made him reach out to his long time friend. So there is a mystery trying to find the old doctor, there is tension because of the new doctor (the medical staff wanted one of their "own" in that position) and there is a problem with the president that has the doctor wondering what the hell he got himself into. It seems like the president is losing his mind, he starts talking jibberish, has seizures and has no idea what is going on. While he tries to piece everything together, he gets himself further and further into trouble. Real good mystery.

THE SOCIETY - Michael Palmer - © 2004
My favorite writer has a new book out (well it was new last year when I bought it). This one deals with the corruption in the hospitals and the insurance companies. A great well known doctor is framed with having drugs that caused him to get sick during a surgery. A bunch of HMO's executives wind up dead. A cop who has barely any experience tried to get to the bottom of the case, who also has some problems finding the truth gets shot and put into a coma. The plot thickens in this one and like all his others, you want to keep reading to find out what happens.

FATAL - Michael Palmer - © 2003
Another great book from Palmer. This one starts off in the country side. A doctor who's wife just died is heart stricken and is trying to get evidence against the big bad corporation dumping chemicals into the water. He knows her death and the other deaths of patients with the same symptoms are related. They have large lumps all over their face to the point of disfigurement. In another part of the country, a woman's roommate just went crazy, and was found hit by a car. She starts prying into what happened and shots are taken against her life! The doctor and the woman end up in the same hospital and they realize it is all related. You have 3 hillbilly's in the woods who help them out, along with some other plots and twists and turns, but it's a great mystery.

DUMA KEY - Steven King - © 2008
So the only other book by King I have read was the Cell and it stunk. Wasn't very good at all, and I did not like it in the slightest. The lady at work who I trade books with promised me this book was better and she was right. There is a guy who moves to Duma Key after an accident he has. He meets up with a man named Wireman, who is his neightbor, and Elizath, who is the older lady he takes care of. Out of no where Edgar starts painting and paint real freaky, crazy things that no one really understands. Until the end of course. Probably the last 200 pages or so, everything that King was building up finally starts to come together and let me tell you, you won't want to put the book down. It took me a little while to read the book, not because I didn't like it, but just because it was a lot of pages and with school I haven't been reading much. But once I got to those last couple hundred pages, I couldn't put the book down. Excellent and well worth the time you have to invest.

S IS FOR SILENCE - Sue Grafton - © 2005
So little by little I have been picking up these books from my grandmom and I finally decided to read one. Not a bad mystery at all. I believe the main charcter, Kinsey Millhone, who is a PI is in all of the books, but I could be totally wrong. In this book, a tramp from the town goes missing over 35 years ago. Her daughter wants to know once and for all what happened, if she just picked up and left or did something bad happen. She hires Kinsey to investigate and finds a whole lot of people who didn't like her and wanted to see her hurt. I figured it all out about half way in, but it was just a hunch. I was surprised to see I was correct. At times it was a little slow, but a good book, lots of ups and downs. Now I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the collection.

THE SECOND TIME AROUND - Mary Higgins Clark - © 2003
A reporter. A 100 billion dollar drug. A lawyer. An advisor. A marriage. A lover. An affair. Millions of lost dollars. Hundreds of pissed off people. A plot so crazy you will never believe the last 50 pages. That is what you will find in this book. Gen-stone was a company who was testing a drug to cure cancer in people. The drug went belly up, with the president's plane destroyed in Puerto Rico, with the body no where to be found. Millions of dollars stolen from the company. Then one by one, the truth comes out with a reporter who is writing a cover story on the most horrible man on the planet....This has a lot of characters and is not the type of book to leave go for a long period of time, or I promise you will be flipping through the book trying to figure out where the person mentioned was originally.

THE SURGEON - Tess Gerristen - © 2002
I'm not a huge fan of Tess and her writing style. My favorite medical murder mystery writer is Michael Palmer. He doesn't use a ton of medical terms, but when he does, you know what he is talking about because of the content. This one doesn't really do that, and she will throw medical terms out at you all the time and if you don't have a medical dictionary, you will be lost. This book isn't as bad though. There is a guy running around cutting out the uterus of woman while they are awake and then slashing their throats at the end to end their hours and hours of suffering. One lady in particular was attacked years and years ago but survived. Moved far away and left everything behind. All the sudden the murders started happening again. Little notes were sent to her, only things she and the killer would know, except, she shot the killer dead. This is a tale that will leave you hanging for every page.

ONE FOR THE MONEY - Janet Evanovich - © 2003 Reprint
This is the first book in the Stephanie Plum series and it's a funny one, like the other 2 I have read. This one starts out introducing Stephanie and her family. She has just been laid off from a job, and finds out her cousin needs some help in his office, working as a bounty hunter. First assignment? Bring in Joe Morelli, a good cop gone bad. Why is she desperate to bring this guy in? Other than the fact he played Choo-Choo with her when they were 5, it's $10,000, which would be great since she sold all of her furniture to pay for the rent she was behind on. While trying to find Joe, she gets a psycho boxer mad at her, and he leaves phone messages and "presents" for her. Real twist in the end. I just love these books!

TWO FOR THE DOUGH - Janet Evanovich - © 1996
Here is the second series for the Stephanie Plum bounty hunter books and it's as great as the last few I have read. This time she is looking for a guy named Kenny, who is a relative of Joe Morelli. She has a past with Joe, he played Choo-Choo with her when they were 5, she tried running him over when she was 18 and she had to catch him in the last book. She teams up with him to try to find him, both with their own motives. Stephanie wants the money for bringing him in, Joe wants his cousin just to be OK and to help him free his name. From the beginning it's just one big hilarious ride. Oh yeah, and in this book, she burns down the funeral home, her grandmom loves to go to for viewing's.

THREE TO GET DEADLY - Janet Evanovich - © 1997
This book took me about 3 days to finish. Uncle Mo is a beloved character in the town. He has his own ice cream shop and has been selling ice cream to the kids in Trenton for many many years. He gets pulled over and he has a gun on him, then of course, he doesn't go to his trial and now it's Stephanie's problem. No one wants to help her bring in this poor old man who would never have done anything wrong. Then one day after sneaking into his ice cream store looking for clues, she gets knocked out, a drug dealer gets shot while she is out and in the end they end up finding 4 bodies in Mo's shop. Still the community won't hear of Uncle Mo every doing anything wrong. She always gets her man in the end, and even with her orange hair, she still manages to end get some bedroom action....finally!

FOUR TO SCORE - Janet Evanovich - ©1999
This story was pretty insane, with all of the twist and turns and surprise plots, it had my head spinning, but of course I loved every minute of it. In this adventure, a waitress skips bail and it's Stephanie's job to find her. People around the waitress start dying off, or pieces of their scalp or hand starts disappearing. She pops up all the time, but what good would a Stephanie Plum novel be if she caught her right away? Of course, there is always Joe Morelli, who know she is in a relationship with, finally, after stringing us along for the past 3 books! And to make matters worse for her, the woman who stole her husband away decides she wants to be a bounty hunter, gets hired by the same company as Stephanie and ruins her chances to get the runaway waitress on at least 2 times. Let's not forget Sally Sweet and his roommate who is jealous of Stephanie because Sally is spending all of his time with her! The plot thickens for sure!

HIGH FIVE - Janet Evanovich © 1999
I'm a little annoyed at this book, because I went out and bought a few mobster books and said I was going to start reading them when I was done with this book. Well, they left such a cliff hanger at the end (who Stephanie calls over for a late night booty call, Joe or Ranger??), I had to start reading Hot Six to find out! Still, another great book in the installments of Stephanie Plum. This time, the boxer is out of jail stalking her, she damaged a door to the apartment for a FTA and now he, the midget, is living with her until it gets fixed, and worse, her uncle is missing. With Grandmom Mazur lifting the lid of a coffin to take pictures of the dead, her new Porshe being blown up and then smashed, a second new car being stolen 10 minutes after accepting it, this book has more action in it then the others!

HOT SIX - Janet Evanovich © 2001
So, I found out the conclusion of the last book- Little disappointed with the choice Stephanie made, but it was only for a chapter before I forgot all about it. In this book, Stephanie needs to find Ranger, her hot co-worker. She wants nothing to do with it, however still has two guys following her around, hoping she would lead them to Ranger. Vinnie at the Bond Company gives the FTA to Joyce, Stephanie's favorite person, and before she knows it, Joyce is following her around too, for the same reason as the other two. Someone drops off their dog for Stephanie to dog-watch, except he never comes back. Grandmom ends up living with her too for a while since she had a fight with the family. Everything is NOT going Stephanie's way in this book and it's a hoot from beginning to end!

SEVEN UP - Janet Evanovich © 2001
Another cliff hanger at the end of this book, this time it's with Ranger though! This has an insane plot, which includes an old geyser who missed his court case, two old ladies, a human heart, an animal's heart and of course, a few dead bodies. This time the mob is related so they are all over Stephanie to try and "help" her find Eddie. She is having problems with Joe, her on again, off again boyfriend, which just makes everything more complicated! Not to mention, her favorite stoners go missing, first Mooner, than Doug. This one is a hoot!

HARD EIGHT- Janet Evanovich © 2002
In this book, Stephanie was asked to find a granddaughter and great granddaughter, which really isn't part of bounty hunting, but this lady lives next door to her parents and she couldn't refuse a crying old lady! She gets more than she is bargained for, when she has problems with Bill Clinton and a rabbit, a nasty, bitter ex-husband and a few blown up cars! Not to mention death cutie's! Ewwww! Joe is off in this book, but have no fear, Ranger is on!

TO THE NINES - Janet Evanovich © 2003
This book was crazy with twists, turns, trips, dogs and a mean old mother! The bonds company Stephanie works for decides to try something new and posted bail on someone who was on a visa bond. He goes missing, has an arranged wife to be, and old mother to be in law bothering Vinnie, Connie, Ranger and Stephanie until he is found, but more importantly, until their dog is found, who left with the missing man. Steph uncovers a game involving a person she never thought was included. Of course she has a car or two blown up, people stalking her and more fun with Grandmom Mazur and her soon to explode prego sister!

TEN BIG ONES - Janet Evanovich - © 2005
My grandmother and great aunt have turned me on to Janet and I have to say, I love her books. They are funny and corky and the kind of books that make you laugh out loud, which happens every time I go to read them. Stephanie Plum is a bounty hunter, who is not very good at her job and has more cars blown up than there are drivers in the US. In this novel, she finds out who the Red Devil is in error and from then on, she is in big trouble. She has a grandmom who loves viewing's, a sister who is marrying a going no where lawyer, who has a cross dresser as their wedding planner. If it doesn't get worse, she has an obsession with sweets, a on-off again cop boyfriend and a secret crush on her HOT boss Ranger. I read this book in 3 days and laughed through out most of it.

ELEVEN ON TOP - Janet Evanovich - © 2005
After reading two of her books, I heard this one was just released and I ran out to the store to buy it. This starts off kinda where the last one ends, but the one thing about Janet's books, if I never would have read the one before it, I would have still known who every character was. She goes through all of the characters again and makes sure you see what their roll is. Nothing repeating the other books, just so you aren't lost. Here, Stephanie has decided to quit the bounty hunter roll and try on a different shoe. Let's say many different shoes. Let's say she has had more jobs in the 250 pages than a 17 year old high school stoner would have. She gets herself involved again in a case, even though she swore off the business, and it gets her into a heap of trouble. Still mixed up with the cop, still having the crush on Ranger and now on a diet, but dreaming about sweets. Funny stuff, once again.

TWELVE SHARP - Janet Evanovich - © 2006
Another great Stephanie Plum novel, finished of course in a few days after buying it. Stephanie gets a woman stalker....Ranger's wife! Imagine that! Then Rangers child becomes kidnapped and everything thinks it's Ranger doing the killing and kidnapping. Except, it's a Ranger stalker! So Stephanie is trying to avoid a woman Ranger who has no problem pointing a gun at her, and Ranger has this deranged man who is holding his kid! Grandmom breaks through another casket lid, another car gets blown up and more on and off again Joe relationship issues!

LEAN MEAN THIRTEEN - Janet Evanovich - © 2007
I liked this one, I think it was cute. This one involves Stephanie's ex husband Dickie who was captured and dragged out of his mansion a bloody mess, according to what was left behind. Who was to blame? Of course Stephanie! Maybe it had to do with showing up as his office the day before threating him and then strangling him in front of the office! A big conspiracy with dirty laywers is behind evrything and of course, Stephanie's life is threatened, more times than just once. She deals with her enemy Joyce, Lula and Connie, and her normal crazy skips. Grandmom finds loves in a taxidermy who turns old animals into bombs and leaves them for people who miss him off. It had my laughing out loud for most of the story.

FEARLESS FOURTEEN - Janet Evanovich - © 2008
I had this book for a long time before I read it. Not sure why, Janet's books are the best and I usually read them within a day or two because I can't put it down. This one was no exception. This one had a funny story line, apparently some guy who is related to Morelli thinks there is a stash of money in his house. If you remember, Joe got the house from his aunt when she kicked it. So in the basement, under the new floor, there could be a handful of money from a bank robbery. The guy is out of jail and wants his money back. People are breaking into the house, ripping the lawn apart and on top of Stephanie and Ranger have to protect some wicked older country star, as security. Of course, she has her fill of pick up's too. Grandmom gets hooked playing on line games and of course there is a funeral mention as well.

FINGER LICKING FIFTEEN - Janet Evanovich - © 2009
This book cracked me up. They are always good, put I needed a break from them for a little while. This one was good though, got me back on track with her stories. So, out of no where, a famous chef is killed. His head actually goes rolling fown the street and who of all people see it happen? Lula! A prize is offered for the capture of the killers, and Lula, Stephanie and Grandmom Mazur are on a mission to find the killers, before they find Lula. In this one Stephanie and Joe are "off", but there is some romantic tension between them, when they do have to talk. It's a hoot. Plus, Stephanie needs to help Ranger with one of his cases, so add him to the mix, and you have yourself another great Plum mystery.

PLUM LUCKY - Janet Evanovich © 2008
Very cute book, it was a short one, about 170 pages and larger print than a normal book. But it was a fast read, I was done it in two sittings. So hot stuff Diesel shows up again, but not much Ranger and not much Joey. This one revolves mostly around Grandma Mazur, she is up to her old tricks again! She "finds" some money on the street and buys a RV, buys a bodyguard...kinda...and goes to Atlantic City. Bad move though, the money was originally stolen from the mob and even though Grandma didn't steal it, Grandma spent it and they weren't happy. It was up to Lula, Connie, Stephanie, Briggs the bodyguard, Snuggy, who originally stole the money, and Doug the horse to get Grandma back from Deliva, the toadlike mobster. It's a hoot!

PLUM SPOOKY - Janet Evanovich © 2008
Ok, now Janet is one of my favorites (of course, second to Michael Palmer). I read everythings she puts out, from her romance books, to the Plum books and even the other two odd ones she put out, the Motor series. But I think I could due without these middle books. This one was funny, as always and it was read in like 3 days, but it just wasn't as good as the others. I don't know if she rushed to put it out or what, but I would rather her save her energy for the Plum series. Diesel comes back into the picture to find an unmentionable. They track this guy, and other unmentionables through Jersey, from the top to the bottom. There is a bad guy named Wulf who is financing the whole thing, and they are trying to eventually take over the weather. For the world. Like I said, not her finest. But, there are monkeys and hotties and Grandmom Mazur and Lula. Of course, a fire farter Elmer, and an East Bunny.

VISIONS OF SUGAR PLUMS - Janet Evanovich - © 2002
This book was a break in between numbered books and I have to say, it was a bit weird. It's Christmas time and Stephanie wakes up with some strange man in her house, which isn't that unusual. They both are trying to find some guy who skipped out on court and also who is being hunted. By a supernatural creature. And this guy was some supernatural creature as well. They both had these special powers, one was good, the other was bad and the bad guy kept using his powers to make the other guys life miserable. This was one insane tail, but Grandma Mazur, and Joe was there to bring the normalcy down, if you can believe that.

BACK TO THE BEDROOM - Janet Evanovich - © 2005
This was almost hard to believe. My grandmom says, you are going to love this romance book. Romance, shormance, nothing that I would want to read about. I have to say she was right. This book was done in 2 days. Two neighbors, never even looking at each other before. One day something crashes through the roof of the one's house. The other, comes and helps out and the romance is started. Of course, no girl is perfect, or sane for that matter. This lady drags the man through the dirt, up the hill, down the hill, though more dirt and he sticks it out. She has a new roommate to get use to, an old lady who packs heat and has been dating men from the old folk's home. This one will have you laughing the entire time you read it.

LOVE OVERBOARD - Janet Evanovich - © 2005
Here is another one of Janet's romance books, recently republished, which is good for me, because I could find it. This one stars Stephanie, a clumsy woman, who use to be a cop back in her younger days, recently a new homeowner and now a chief for a tour boat. This also stars Ivan, a pirate, who has had more woman then Gene Simmons, the captain of the boat that now Stephanie has to cook for during the next week of cruises. To make matters a little more worse, Stephanie is a virgin! They get through the week of bad cooking and now Stephanie finds herself in her new house, with ghost living there, mad she has turned the house into a inn. Bad plumbing, cracks in the walls, porches that rot are just a start of some of the things that go wrong for her. Have no fear, the pirate shows up to save the day and make her a real woman. This is a great funny cute book.

THE ROCKY ROAD TO ROMANCE - Janet Evanovich - © 2004
I guess you could say I'm on a big Janet kick! Man, I still have another 10 or so of her books to read. I went back to one of her older/newer releases for some romance. This was one that was re-released just recently. In this one, we have Daisy, who has a small segment on the local news for her town. She is high strung, has about 4 other jobs, and has a brother who eats everything, living with her. She is a dog lover, as her segment is all about dogs and home made treats. The normal traffic guy breaks his leg, and some how thru her wits, Daisy convinces Steve, the station manager to let her do the traffic. She messes up and in one of her disasters, she hits and lets the cops arrest a main drug lord. Big mistake, because until he is caught (200 pages later), Daisy, Steve, who is now madly in love with her, the brother and everyone around them is in trouble. Of course, what kind of book what Janet write that did not include an old lady! This one is a hoot, reminds me of Grandmom Mazur from the Plum series. Cute book, I especially liked it because I love dogs as well.

SMITTEN - Janet Evanovich - © 2006
Since the semester at school is over, I have read 3 books in the past 2 weeks. Ha ha. Some of them are just too good to put down. This is another one of the released romance books from Janet Evanovich. It's about a woman named Lizabeth, who after getting divorced from her hubby, lands a job doing construction. She has an aunt, just like the grandmom in all of the Stephanie Plum series, so that makes the book hilarious. She watches her kids while she is at work. Her boss and owner of the company, Matt, ends up falling for her. After some persuading and lots of chores around the house, Lizabeth falls for him too. Real good book, it's a quick read. Two days tops.

THANKSGIVING - Janet Evanovich - © 2006
Megan was minding her own business and all the sudden a rabbit started eating her custom. She worked in Williamsburg, VA and was in full attire just admiring the view when she looked down and saw this rabbit. From there it went down hill for her. The owner was a good looking new doctor in town. Then, an infant was dropped off at his door step and she got tricked into baby sitting. Then a fake engagement, Thanksgiving with the parents, and an old boyfriend in town. What next, but the real engagement going completely wrong of course! All works out in the end for Megan, doctor Pat and the horse. Yes, I said a horse. This was a cute romance book, which I couldn't put down until it was done.

MANHUNT - Janet Evanovich - © 2005
Boy this was a cute story. So we have this girl with a big dog. And must against her lawyers advice, she quits her corporate job in the city to move to Alaska and run a bait and tackle shop, and of course, to find a husband. On her way there, she has a little bit of bad luck and in Janet Evanovich style, the man who helps out Ms. Alex ends up being her next door neighbor once in Alaska. He becomes smitten with her and even though she said multiple times he was Mr. Wrong and she is searching for Mr. Right, she likes him too. Took me less than 2 days to finish, I couldn't put it down once I started reading it.

WIFE FOR HIRE- Janet Evanovich - © 2007
This was a great story, I finished it in two days. I loved it! Another romance book, but you know, I think the James Patterson or John Sandord books I read has more sex than these books. Anyway, a scattered brain Irish girl responds to an ad for a Wife for Hire. A man is trying to get a loan in Vermont and is looking for a lady to play his wifey for six months to get the paperwork to go through. All she needs to do is be social and act lovey dovey with him. Problem is she is also a writer and is writing a book about her Madam aunt, which has the small town in an uproar. Instead of being this proper woman, she is not the dirty novelist. There is even a housekeeper, who is just like Grandmom Mazur in the Stephanie Plum books, and she is packing!

FULL HOUSE - Janet Evanovich- © 2002
This is a great little story, the first of the "Full" series Janet co-wrote with Charlotte Hughes. This is an older book, and it was published originally by Janet under a different name. Anyway, this is a romance book and it has all of the fun articles like the other ones Janet normally writes. In this story Billie is a homemaker and decided to spice up her life by taking up polo lessons, never even riding on a horse before. The teacher, a womanizer millionaire named Nick, decided Billie would be his next conquest. Between the horses, extra roommates, a bug guy, kids, pets and marriage proposals, this is one action packed cute novel. It will leave you not wanting to put the book down.

FULL TILT -Janet Evanovich - © 2002
This one is kinda a continuation of Full House. Of course, I did not realize that until about half way through the pick, then a big fat DUH smacked me in the face. This story involved Max, and DeeDee, about 20 years later. Max is a brilliant smart man, coming to the aid of his sister DeeDee, who's wrestler husband is retired and now running for a spot in the government. He gets in trouble by declaring he would look into the missing tax dollars. Well that is all that is needed to have people start gunning after Frankie. Max falls in love with Jamie, an engaged woman who runs the only local paper in the city. The two of them get involved in more ways than one. Threats, broken windows, cars blown up and Swampdog are all included in this action packed book.

PLUM LOVIN' - Janet Evanovich - © 2007
This one is a half bonds series meets Janet's old romance books. Real Stephanie Plum style but a funny romance theme. It's Valentines Day around the corner. Annie Hart, who is a relationship consultant has some clients in desperate need of help. Problem is, she messed with the wrong couple, and now the jilted ex hubby is out to get her. She's in hiding, and she is also Stephanie's highest bond right now. Diesel is holding her, to find the ex hubby and it's Stephanie's job to find matches for these clients. Real short book, less than 200 pages, but it's a good one. Sadly, Grandma Mazur doesn't make too much of an appearance. Neither does Stephanie's side kick Lulu. Real cute though.

HERO AT LARGE - Janet Evanovich - ©1987
So cute, another fast read. I love these romance books, they are so cute and it just makes you wish shit like that actually happens. Anyway, Chris, a professional ice skater teacher. On her way to work one morning, her klunker of a car breaks down. Who is there to help her except this hunk of man, who is semi new in town. He makes a deal; she would let him stay with her, as a tentant in the basement and she can drive his car. They could use the extra cash, she is a single mom and also has her crazy old aunt living with her. Things go aray though, because her prince ends up not to be the person everyone thought he was, but a millionaire with a large business. He was just runing away from it, almost like a little vacation. She can't forgive him for lying, but can she???

HOT STUFF - Janet Evanovich and Leanne Banks - © 2007
For some reason, my grandmom didn't like this book. She said it wasn't good, and she was bored. I thought it was cute, I finished it in 2 days. Not very big book, 300 pages, not that bad. So we have Cate, who lives with a cross dressing lounge singer named Marty. She rents a room from him, but he is nevr home, so it is like she has this palace to herself most of the time. Marty gets mixed up with some bad deals, bad people and just bad everything. Marty disappears and everyone is looking for him and the missing jews and money. Naturarly, they bother Cate for the stuff, which she doesn't have. The place gets broken into, her dog gets stolen and she has a lovesick would be boyfriend, named Pugg, who is being a pain! But of course, she also meets a nice sexy man, named Kellen. Lots of twists and turns and a good read.

EVERY WOMAN NEEDS A WIFE - Naleighna Kai - ©2006
My friend at work lent me this book. She told me I needed to read a "black novel". I said what the heck is that, I didn't realize they had such a thing. This was a good book, makes you wish this would actually happen in real life, I think I would like a wife! A man is caught cheating by his wife. Happens every day, no big deal. Unless that wife is Brandy. She wants the mistress to be her wife for a whlie; if Vernon can get some, she wants some to. The mistress and Brandi actually have a lot in common and kind of become friends. Vernon is mad and doesn't want them to be friends and tries everything to break them up. Vernon decides to dig into her past though, open a can of worms that no one was prepared for. I wish the courts would go for something like this in real life, for sure.

BUBBLES UNBOUND - Sarah Strohmeyer - © 2001
Never judge a book by it's cover, that's for sure. My grandmom told me I would like these Bubbles books. I looked at the cover and wondered what kind of cheesy shit is she giving me. So I finished all of the romance novels I could handle and decided to give Bubbles a shot. Book was done in 3 days. Loved it. Good thing she gave me the entire series! This is about a girl named Bubbles, hairdresser during the day and journalist at night and whenever she can catch a break. She gets her first big break, except she prints a story basically calling the most powerful man in the Leigh Valley's wife a murderer. She is, but there is a big cover up and everyone is trying to prevent Bubbles from uncovering it. Just like in the Janet Evanovich books, there is an older gal, in this case her mother who should be in a psych hospital and a hot love interest. Great series, can't wait to read more.

BUBBLES IN TROUBLE- Sarah Strohmeyer - © 2002
These remind me a lot of the Stephanie Plum/Janet Evanovich series. Real funny, real quirky and interesting. There is Bubbles, who is a hairdresser/journalist. She has a teenage daughter, who is this book has a much older boyfriend "G". She has a mother, who is old and carries a gun, with her old friend, who carries a much bigger gun. Then we have the hunky boyfriend, here one day, gone the next, the infamous Steve. In this book, she has a relative who gets caught up with the wrong people, in error. Skips town, misses her own wedding and heads back to Lancaster county, PA. Everyone is on the look out for Janice and of course, the only person to put the clues together is Bubbles. She is undercover posing as an Amish girl from Ohio. Her cover eventually gets blown, because you can't take the big hair, spandex clothes, high heels and hot nail polish away for too long. Lots of twists and turns and the entire thing is a riot from start to finish.

SELF DEFENSE - Jonathan Kellerman - © 2002
I never read a Jon Kellerman book before. My grandmom hates him for some reason. I didn't have the same feelings when I was done reading his book, I added him to my list of authors to read. This one was a mystery to say the least. A lady by the name of Lucy starts seeing a shrink for nightmares and other issues. It turns out, her nightmares are linked to a murder that took place when she was a young child. The shrink tries to help solve this problem she is having, no one knows for sure if her dreams are real or if they are from her past. The shrink starts getting involved and doing a little investigating on his own, along with the help of the local policy. She also has some problems with her father, who is a big time crazy author, who was famous years ago. He has a dying wish or request to see her and he is part of this whole big mystery related to her past. She tries to see him and almost gets killed for trying to put this past behind her once and for all. It's a pretty suspenseful book.

STRAWBERRY SHORTCAKE MURDER - Joanne Fluke - © 2001
When my grandmom gave me this book, I thought she was smoking crack. What person names her book after a great dessert and then adds Murder to the end of it? Needless to say this sat in my closet for about a year. I finally grabbed it the other day, needed a book for school and decided to give it a shot. It was actually a really cute book. The main character is a lady who owns her own cookie store. They were having a bake off and one of the judges ends up dead afterwards. Of course, the wife is to blame at first, he beat her a few times, so she is the suspect. It's up to Hannah and her perfect sister to solve this case so her friend doesn't get a bad rep. The best part about these books by Joanne though, she puts receipts in there for all of the different desserts she talks about in the books. Of course, for someone who doesn't cook much, they are too hard for me to try, but for someone who knows their way around the kitchen, they are some yummy treats. Every time I read the book, I got hungry.

BLUEBERRY MUFFIN MURDER - Joanne Fluke - © 2002
I really like these little lite hearted murder mystery books, but maybe it was just me, the book was a little slow. It's the same story as the first one I read by Joanne, but with a different murder. It was a good book though, but so far from the two I have read, there is nothing holding me to the next chapter. This murder takes place at Hannah's shop right in the middle of preparations for the Winter Carnival. She is stuck now without a home to cook her food so her and her sister try to solve this case faster than the cops can. She has to get back to her kitchen you know! There are a couple great parts that just make you laugh out loud, and some good receipts too, one I am going to try. My grandmom did say her books were hit or miss, I think this one might be a miss.

THE LAST JUROR - John Grisham - © 2004
I found a deal on this guy. Never heard of him before in my life, but heard he dealt a lot with legal mystery's, which I like a lot, so I found a lot on ebay, 22 books for like 20 bucks, including shipping. So I got it and started off with this book. This mostly is about a young kid, who is 24, and borrows some money from his aunt, to buy a town newspaper. The previous owner was just about to go bankrupt, so this kid stepped in. Turned the paper around, adding town news, school news, sports, and tons of ad's and did a killing. At the same time, there was a horrible murder that took place. A man raped and killed a woman, basically in front of her two small children. She ID'ed the man before she died and there was a trial for it, which the newspaper covered. The guy was a nut, had an insane family and basically the entire town's officals were always paid off by this family. Either that, or they ended up dead. Needless to say, somehow he escaped being put to death and in 3 years was let out of jail. This caused a stir, including the 3 jurors who voted against death to eventually be shot, random town shootings and a ton of other mess. Great book, kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time.

CHOKE - Stuart Woods - © 2001
So my grandmom found this Stuart Woods author somehow and started reading all of his books. I mean, she must have given me about 15 of his books. For some reason, I just was never in a big rush to read them, we have the same taste in books, so I wasn't sure why I kept putting it off. I had a long flight for my vacation, about 4 hours so I decided to bring one of his books for the ride. Excellent choice I must say. Readlly good, and quick read, only because it keeps you at the edge of your seat. I passed on the movie just so I could continue to read the book. The main character, Chuck, is a tennis coach who moved to Fl. He gets involved with this married woman, who was in a loveless marriage to some old, rich guy. The guy turns up dead, when the misses, the husband and Chuck are all out together. Poor Chuck gets stuck in the middle of the investigation and can't believe this has happened to himself. The cops are against the out-of-towner from the start and are ready to turn him in. Chuck spends the rest of the time trying to clear his name and piece this mystery back together. The end is wild, and totally not expected.

THE ALIBI - Sandra Brown - © 2001
Another great book for the plane ride for our vacation and another book I just about finished on the plane ride. This book is a little longer for the ride though, it was almost 600 pages from start to finish. I only had to read about 50 pages or so when I got home. After traveling for most of the day, when I came home, dead tired, I still tried to finish off the book. Of course, I couldn't, but it made me want to dive back into the last few pages the next morning. There is a murder that takes place, an extremely wealthy, shady business man and everyone is trying to figure out the who's, what's and when's. A woman who is identified is wanted for questioning, who happened to use the next DA for an alibi the night before, in bed. He is batty for the woman and she just needed someone to pass the time with. Much to both their shock when she is brought in for questioning. She has a shady past, but it's up to her, the DA, a shady cop and an assistant to the DA who try and figure out the question, Who done it? Another great twist at the end, never saw it coming.

JUDGE AND JURY - James Patterson - © 2006
I never read one of this guys books before. Not really sure why, I think because I have so many other books here at the house, I just pick from them. But when I read the sleeve, this one was right up my alley. There is a mobster on trial and he takes out an entire bus load of jurors from his first trial, he just about takes out the entire court in his second trial and he gets away. During the first case though, one juror survived and it was her and a detectives mission to find this guy. He escaped to the lowest point on the map and after much plotting, they were able to find him and bring him back to justice. Very good book, I couldn't put it down.

CROSS - James Patterson - © 2006
This was another real good Patterson book. I might have to start buying his books now too. We have this FBI agent, Alex Cross. His wife is a social worker and works on a rape case. The rapist though, is an insane serial killer and doesn't like the victim talking to the social worker and guns them both down. Years later, without any breaks in his wife's case, the rapist appears again. The book is like one big jigsaw puzzle, trying to pick up clues here and there and putting them all together. Of course he gets his killer in the end, but not without a lot of heartache and stress. Real good suspense book.

1st TO DIE - James Patterson - © 2002
What a great book. I've had the book for a while, a few of the Women's Murder Club books. Then, the TV series came on and I watched them and it was great. Four women, all different area's of law enforcement and they are all friends and come together secretly to bang heads and try to solve big murders. This book was finished in two days. I started reading it one night, couldn't put it down, read the first 250 pages, then woke up early the next morning and finished the last 200. Amazing book. This one is about a crazy man killing newlywed couples. It's also a little background on the girls, how they got together and such. But they put their heads together, and are able to crack the case. Excellent book, I can't say it enough

2nd CHANCE - James Patterson - © 2003
Not as good as the first one, but still I was able to finish this book in a few days. This one involves race, basically there is some crazy guy going around killing people who are African American and also have some kind of relation to the police force. They don't care who they go after and they go after one important person too in the book, which is shocking. They even kill a little girl, which wasn't called for at all! The girls join together and get the murder solved before anyone else gets shot at or hurt. Also, the main character loses a love interest and has to deal with some personal issues too. It was like three stories all rolled into one, which made it that much more interesting!

3rd DEGREE - James Patterson - © 2006
I was very upset with this book. I must have received a reprinted version and it had reviews of the books already printed inside. I normally don't care and I like to read them to see what others thing. However, one of the reviews gave away an important piece of the book. I was shocked they would put the spoiler right in there. Plus I was upset at what it actually was. I'm not going to give it away, but it's good and my mouth was wide opened when it happened. This one had disasters happening all over town, with the name August Spies taking responsibility for all of them. Fires, murders by poison, all kinds of crazy shit happening. Worse of all, Lindsay finds out that one of their club members is being abused at home by her hubby. It's an up and down rollercoaster of a ride and you should buckle up for it!

4th of JULY - James Patterson - © 2005
I think this might be my favorite Women's Murder Club book so far. There is a shooting with some kids, one dies and the other is paralized for the rest of his life. Of course, being in this sue happy world we live in, the parents sued Ms. Lindsay and the police force for 50 million dollars. Lindsay is in the fight of her life and takes some time off and away from her life to escape to her sisters house for a couple months, until everything blows over. Being the cop she is, she gets involved in another investigation down there, which is also related to her first murder mystery almost ten years prior. I love courtroom drama books and this is right up my alley. They also invite a new girl into the club. Great book.

5th HORSEMAN - James Patterson - © 2006
Another Woman's Murder Club book and it's a good one. Again, it took me no time to read, maybe 2 days at most. In this one, there are people dying in a certain hospital. They are all under the care of a specific doctor, so of course, a class action lawsuit becomes underway. The doctor is a cocky prick, but he is cool and collected for most of the trial. In the meantime, one of the lawyers with the firm suing the hospital mother dies at the same hospital. So she is going crazy with watching the case and trying to avenge her mother's death, even though she has no clue what really happened. Lindsay and the gang try to help their friend put all of the pieces together. So in this one, there is a medical thriller and at the same time a legal thriller, my type of book!

6th TARGET - James Patterson - © 2008
I love this series and each one gets better and better. I won't read them because I'll think I'm getting bored with the series, but then as soon as I pick one up, I can't put it down and I want to read the next one right away. Of course, this is no change from the others, still excellent. So nannies and kids are being kidnapped, and no one knows who is doing it. It's a crime spree freaking out the entire town. Not to mention, poor Claire takes a bullet in the chest and spends most of the book fighting for her life. So which crime is more important? Claire's or the kidnapping. Lindsay and the girls are on the case trying to rack their brains before anyone else dies.

7th HEAVEN - James Patterson - © 2008
Another book of the Women 's Murder Club and another two crimes that need to be solved ASAP. First, a little boy, who was sickly and has been in the news because of his illness since he was born is dead. So they captured the person that could have done it, except there is no evidence. Ther was a confession, but now the person is retracting. Yuki is having a crazy time trying to try this case, because she is beginning to doubt herself. In the meantime, there are fires happening in posh family homes. The victims are parents, and they are hogged tied and left to die. Lindsay has her hands full in this one and also has boy trouble. Great little book.

MAYHEM IN HIGH HEELS - Gemma Halliday - © 2009
I'm not one for covers, and if the cover is shitty, I won't read the book. I always regret it later though, because usually the book ends up to be real good. So I'm strolling B&N and came across this book, though the cover was funny, and it talks about shoes, one of my favorite things! So I bought it. It was a good one, I will buy more from this lady. Maddie is ready to marry her finance, but her wedding planner truns up dead. What is worse, is her hubby to be is put in charge of the case. If she wants to spend any time with him at all again, she was going to have to solve this mystery on her own. She gets closer and closer to finding the killer, all under the nose of her future hubby. Of course, when he finds out, he is furious, but she has to do what she needs to do to spend some time with her man!

OVER HER DEAD BODY - Kate White - © 2005
Again, another book I have had for a while now and because the cover looked stupid, I didn't read it. Surprising, my grandmother gave me this book, and it's a little dirty. A couple times they drop the F bomb, the main character is just looking for a summer fling and there is all kinds of caddy fights. I don't think I'll be able to give this to my other grandmom, the more Catholic grandmom. Anyway, Bailey is a reporter for the rag magazine the Buzz, probably something very similar to the National Enquirer. So her boss, this shrew of a woman was murdered in the office. Bailey does crime reporting, so she gets involved with writing the piece for her magazine. She has a conflict with another writer who ends up dead later too. At the end, the pieces all come together and she figures out who did it. Of course, right before her life is about to be taken. Good book, didn't make me want to read it for hours on end though. A little long, could have been a little shorter. This writer Kate White is also the editor in chief at Cosmopolitan magazine.

HEARTSICK - Chelsea Cain- © 2007
Excellent book here - I don't believe Cain is a new author, she has written some other novels before, but i think this is her first murder mystery thriller. Kudos to her, it's great. I found it at the local Rite Aid in the paperback section one day on my lunch break. Tess Gerritsen said it was a good book, and I also look for those short little reviews on the covers. I like Tess's books, so if she recommends someone, then it is good. And to no surprise, this was too. There is a murdered who is taking little girls from school, torturing them and killing them. Pretty sick details of what he actually does, but on the case is Archie Sheridan. Now, he was also a former victim of torture and he was able to escape and this is his first case back. He escaped from a psycho named Gretchen, who is doing time, but Archie feel's she is wrapped up in this new case of abduction too. So he is doing double duty, seeing her in jail, and then trying to solve this case, all while destroying his life in the meantime. Quick read for sure, it kept me interested the full week I read it.

SWEETHEART - Chelsea Cain - © 2008
This chick is nuts, her stories are so freaky, it's unreal. Archie is back and he is back with his family. He is trying to cut ties with serial killer Gretchen and he was successful for a while anyway. Solving crimes is what he does best, but then, Gretchen gets hurt. He goes to see her and that is just the beginning of an elbarate scheme. Gretchen escapes from custody and he takes Archie with her. He seems to be fine with the plan, in some sick way. He is just doing this to capture her again. In the meantime though, he is also killing himself slowing with drinking and all of the pills he is taking for pain. He finally pulled the wool over her, and is ready to die with her, and the cops come. She gets away and he is saved, both endings he did not want. This sets up the next book, which should be just as sick. The details of her killing people is just something you wouldn't expect. Real nasty, but I finished the book in 2 days, it was that good.

EVIL AT HEART - Chelsea Cain - © 2009
I love this series. The woman who writes this must be so freaking warped because the things she talks about are just plain crazy. Gretchen, the crazy serial killer, was let loose in the last book. She went back on her word to Archie and is out there killing people again. Archie is locked up in a mental hospital, but have no fear, Gretchen gets to him there too. She is killing everyone she can. The worse part, the community loves it, they are having tours of the murder sites, and everything. There are copy cat killers out there trying to be like her too. Trying to figure it all out and get on the path to Gretchen is tough for Archie, but eventually he makes it to her and there is a showdown like no other.

THE ELEVENTH VICTIM - Nancy Grace - © 2009
I have to say, I love Nancy Grace. I usually watch her show each night. However, her book sucked. It wasn't very gripping, and there was nothing to hold me in my chair until the book was over. I don't even remember it. Once having a very different life, Hailey moved to Atlanta, from her high paying prosecuting job in New York. Her fiance was murdered and she moved to start a new life. But her old life followed her to Atlanta and she almost died at the hands of it. Her patients started dying one by one and Hailey was the blame for all of them, because she was their common link. They were missing one piece to the puzzle though, but will she find that piece before it's too late?

HISSY FIT - Mary Kay Andrews - © 2004
I read this book while I was on vacation, and this was more interesting than my vacation. This was a cute little quick read for me. Keeley walks in on her fiance and her maid of honor getting down to business, literally. She freaked out, of course, and called the entire wedding off. Of course, this doesn't sit well with anyone, who all agreed she was overreacting. She started getting blackballed through the town and no one would work with. Finally, some guy from out of town came, bought the little bra plant that was on the verge of closing down, and hired Keeley to decorate his new manson, no budget. Of course, he is decorating his manson, for a woman he never met before, just saw her on TV. So Keeley has a major task in front of her, along with town still giving her grief for not sticking it out with her man. Cute.

IF LOOKS COULD KILL - Kate White - © 2002
This books took me a while to finish, I'm just not in the reading mood lately and it was kind of slow for me. Bailey works for Gloss magazine and her shrew of a boss has a problem. Her housekeeper just died, in her house from eating poisoned candy. At first they thought it was someone trying to rub out the mean editor at the magazine, which wouldn't be too far off because the lady is a bitch. So instead of trusting the police, Cat, the editor, asked Bailey to help out on the side. So basically she did all of the digging, but also ran into some trouble herself almost ending up being a victim. They all thought it was a plot to kill off the editors of the top few magazines on the market. It was an up and down rollercoaster for the whole book. A little slow, but had some good parts here and there.

THE MARK - JASON PINTER - © 2007
Never heard of this guy before, but his book was great. Although, it did take me all summer to finish. Not because of the book, but because my boyfriend went back to school, so I played xbox all summer. Didn't have time to read, too busy playing with guitars and bunnys. Anyway, Henry is fresh out of college and lands this amazing job at a major paper for the city. He is getting little pety assigments, nothing major, until the senior writer says he can assist him. That changes his life forever. He gets caught up in a murder of a cop, which he didn't do, but the entire city and all of the cops across America believe he did it. If that isn't bad enough, he has an assassin looking for him as well, because he believes he has a package, that he picked up at the murder scene. This kid and new found friend Amanda need to piece all of the pieces together themselves and solve the mystery before they get themselves killed. Real nail bitter, and I regret it took me so long to finish it.

CHOSEN PREY - John Sanford - © 2001
So I am such a huge nerd, whenever I see someone reading a book, I always ask them what they like, who their favorites are, etc. This lady at work was reading a book I had, so we started talking and we got to exchanging some books. I gave her some James Patterson, she gave me some John Sanford. Never heard of him before, and I'm glad she brought me up to speed with him. A little slow at times, and there were a few chapters that although they were good, there was nothing holding me to the next chapter. For me, that is key. Because if I don't care what happens in the next chapter, it will take me forever to actually pick up the book again. This was about a man who was going around killing women. He would befriend them and then strangle them at one point or another. Someone you would never expect, he was a teacher at a private school. But you never know what lies beneath and that is what this book is about.

MORTAL PREY - John Sanford - © 2003
Another great book by John Sanford. In this one, Clara Rinkler is a hit woman, and a good one at that. Someone ends up killing her boyfriend in Mexico and also she lost her baby in the whole mess. She goes undeground to try to hunt for the people who did that to her and her boyfriend. At the same time, the detectives are looking for her. And also, the same people who she is looking for, are also looking for her to finish her off. That bullet her boyfriend took, was actually suppose to be for her. She is trying to get revenge for the death and one by one she is picking off the people she thinks are involved. The cops are trying to stay one step ahead of her, but when in reality, they are just one step behind. It's real good, some parts are a little slow, but it's a nail bitter.

CELL - Stephen King - © 2007
So this is my first Stephen King book. I never even see his movies, or at least all the way through. For no good reason, I just never got around to them. Someone told me King's books were extremely long, so I never bothered to pick one up. This book was around 450 pages and it took me forever to complete it. I didn't like it, so it made it so hard coming back to it. I really tried to get into it, but it was just way too far hetched for me. One day the main character Clay, is walking along and all the sudden, everyone on a cell phone basically turns mad. They start killing people, eating people, starting fires, just chaotic. He finds a place to hide, finds some new friends and then everntually they figure the pattern of these crazies out and he starts to make the journey back home with his friends. Then, it's like 300 pages of long, boring details of the journey home. Of course they have problems, nothing is every easy, but even with the issues they had, nothing ever kept me wanting to read the next chapter, or prevented me from putting the book down. Just not my thing.

SEIZURE - Robin Cook - © 2003
Never read a Robin Cook book vefore, but the guy looks so familar, I have seen him before in TV or movies. but I have no idea from where. This was actually pretty cool, I found a 'lot' of his books, almost all of his books on ebay for less than 15.00. That was a great deal so I won them. I decided to pick this book first, no good reason, it was first on the pile. Very good book, however my favorite medical thriller writer is still Michael Palmer. No one can compare to him as of yet. My only complaint, which is a complaint of a lot of authors in this genre, there are too many medical terms in here. C'mon, most of the time, it's not some Havard grad reading the book. These medical writers need to dumb the books down for us average people. I could never give this book to my grandmom to read, she would ask me every 30 seconds what half of the words mean. Anyway, these two chemist and creators of this new experimental drug go to treat a senator undercover. The senator comes down with Parkinson's and he is trying to cover it up. He is also the head guy trying to bad the new drug from ever seeing the light of day. In the while of saying how bad the drug is, he is also calling them begging them to treat him. The two chemist agree to treat him and I won't tell you what happens, because it would give it away, but I never saw it coming and I was left in shock. This was probably one of the best endings I ever read. Even thought I didn't know what a lot of the terms meant and I got tired of looking them all up, the ending made it all worth while.

CRITICAL - Robin Cook- © 2008
Here is another Robin Cook book, and again, he loses me sometimes with the medical terms. I almost feel like to understand what he is talking about, I need to have a medical dictionary with me. A couple different story lines here, but they all come together later in the book. First we have a hospital who keeps killing off patients, not on purpose though. They come down with a septic disease and end up dying within days of being there. So the hospital is trying to figure out how to fix this. The medical examiner just so happens is getting ready to have surgery at one of these hospitals, but his girlfriend, another examiner, thinks something fishy is going on. So we have the hospital who has problems, the boyfriend who is obviously and the CSI investigating girlfriend. Not to fear, the mob is also involved. Again, this book had me hooked at the very end, something Robin is great at doing. Not bad, except for all of the damn medical terms!

PLAY DEAD - David Rosenfelt- © 2007
Never heard of this guy before, but I'm glad I read this, because I will go out and try to find his novels. I love books that include legal stuff. I'm all about the legal thrillers. This one though is a little more unique because they throw in a dog. I can't imagine this could every happen, but basically, the dog is a sudo witness to a crime that took place. So of course, the dog is allowed in the court room. It actually was a good, fast pace moving book. I can honestly say, I finished this book in less than a week. Ever time I thought I would finish the end of a chapter, they would end it in such a way, I would have to read the next chapter to see what happened next. It was a good mystery book.

BODY MOVERS - Stephanie Bond - © 2006
I have heard this lady is mostly a romance author. This book is out of her normal realm, she said she came up with the characters writing something else. Good thing too, because it's a good book. It looks like she started a series with this, the second book came out in 2007 and the third in the installment is coming out in 2008. Anyone, the story is about a woman who got stuck taking care of her brother when her parents skipped town. The brother always gets into trouble, and loaned money from some bad people, who like to come and pay visits to their house. So the brother takes up a job as a body mover with the local morgue and they end going to a crime scene that is of her former boyfriend's house, where his wife just drowned. The police think the exboyfriend/husband did it, but Carlotta insists on helping the police (whether they want it or not) to help find the real killer. It actually reminded me a little of the Stephanie Plum mysteries, just as quirky and funny.

BODY MOVERS: 2 Bodies for the Price of 1- Stephanie Bond - © 2007
This was book was a hoot. I found it in error too, I have a list of authors I like, and I remembered this lady last minute and sure enough, there was another book in the series. So Carlotta is still the main character and this book revolves around her crazy life. In this one, her long lost parents phone home, which throws her in a frenzy. At the same time, someone who looked just like her and stole her identity ended up being murdered. Was this really suppose to be Caroltta? It's not too far fetched, since her brother is up to his eye balls in gambling debts and trouble. She still has the hots for the cop and she still has her brothers boss wanting to make a move on her too. Really cute book, I laughed the entire time reading it.

BODY MOVERS: 3 MEN AND A BODY- Stephanie Bond - © 2008
The funny thing about this, I was reading this in the airport before I went on vacation. Of course, the customs folks saw me reading this book and got a little concerned, and I was one of the people frisked before allowed to go on our flight. I know it had to do with this book! Anyway, Carlotta is back with a broken arm, from the last book. She is not back to work yet and is going stir crazy at home. A socialite ends up dying and her and Coop have to make the trip down to FL to pick up the body. Their almost romantic weekend is ruined when her brother Wesley decides to come along for the ride. Her real reason to go down there was her mom and dad had their finger prints in a hotel there. So she actually is going to see if she can find them. To her surprise, she does and that is a quick little reunion before there is a shoot out, all for that body. Wesley gets in more trouble and let's not forget, her ex boyfriend from high school, Peter is back in the picture, trying to win back her heart. So she has three men, including the cop, Jack, who is still trying to get with her.

4 BODIES AND A FUNERAL- Stephanie Bond - © 2009
Carlotta is finally allowed back to work in this installment and that's a good thing because the cops were tired of her playing detective because she was bored! She is at her first day back and there is a gold medal winner there, signing charm bracelets. Well, of course, something goes aerie, and a charm bracelet was stolen off of the gold medal winner. This leaves her devastated and Carlotta tries to assist in getting this back to her. Also, in the meantime, the crazy Michael, who was locked up, who gave her problems previously, by trying to kill her escaped from the mental hospital! She is going stir crazy, being watched by the cops like a hawk, and making matters worse, being babysat by Jack's new, hot cop partner. Westley is getting into more trouble, and Coop seems to be falling out of control and falling off of the wagon. Poor Carlotta has to help everyone and also pretend to be falling for Peter, to keep him close by. Her father feels he can help get him off of the hook with his problems. What a mess!

5 BODIES TO DIE FOR- Stephanie Bond - © 2009
Carlotta is back again with her crazy brother, romances with her high school sweetheart, Jack the detective and Coop, the body mover. This one wasn't as good as the others, but still good nevertheless. She also has her father showing up and leaving her little clues here and there. She is trying to stay with Peter, because she feels he can help free her dad. But she has the hots for Jack and her friend Coop seems to be falling off of the wagon. Wesley, her brother, is in trouble with Coop, for a job gone wrong. The charmed killer is still on the loose and the cops are wondering if Carlotta is actually the one doing the murders. Now living with Peter to protect her, this one is still a good one.

SHOE ADDICTS ANONYMOUS - Beth Harbison - © 2007
How could I not buy a book about shoes? I'm an addict myself having at least over 50 pairs of shoes. I can wear a different pair of shoes for 2 months every day. So when I passed this book in the bargain bin, how could I resist? So this is a cute tail of 4 very different women, who all come together because of one thing in common....SHOES! One girl stays at home and does phone sex for a full timer. Another is a nanny to a wicked lady. Another is a high society lady who is in the proces of wanting a divorce from her hubby. And the last girl, who put it all together, is just broke, but with the best shoe collection out there. They all get together to trade tails and help each other out and they do get into mischief. It's great and I'm looking forward to the next book Beth puts out.

WHAT YOU CAN'T SEE - Allison Brennan, Roxanne St. Claire and Karin Tabke - © 2008
I so was not into this book. I thought I would be, I really like Allison Brennan. This was a short story book, three stories, three different authors. It was all about the dark side of things....Which I really can't get into. The story by Brennan was about a bunch of priest get murdered and a straight laced cop and a priest who feels it's a demon of some kind try to work together. It gets real weird at the end, the demon takes over other bodies, and makes others do things they normally wouldn't do. The second story was a little better, a TV personality has a coupld death threats, hires a body guard, and eventually all come to find out who did the threats, but it was weird, dealing with psychics and such. The third was the worse for me. A guy dies, gets saved from hell by promising to bring a couple things back together on earth. He needs his ex to do this and she hates his guys. Totally weird, not my thing. If you are into the occult and dark stories, this is your thing.
