CRADLE OF FILTH-Midian

How can I review this and be unbiased? These guys are my favorite black metal band. I have nothing bad to say about this. This is a great CD. If you like what they have done on Dusk and Enslaved, you will dig this. I actually like this a little better than Dusk, it is heavier, I think.

HALFORD-Resurrection
So this is it. Rob Halford's return to his Metal roots and probably themost eagerly awaited Metal album of 2000, along with Iron Maiden's "Brave New World". And thank god, it doesn't suck. The opening track is also the title song and the one with the most high pitched vocals on the whole album - remind anyone of anything? Yep,"Resurrection" is pretty much the sequel to "Painkiller" and probably the album that most people wanted Judas Priest to do instead of "Jugulator". It's pretty much a 100% pure Priest-style album from start to finish, with some stuff from the albums before "Painkiller" mixed in, so if you hated "Jugulator", you'll love this. Of course this also means that "Resurrection" does in no way, shape or form take the Priest style to the next level, something Priest themselves have always at least attempted with every one of their albums. Also, while Halford certainly assembled a talented bunch of musicians for this album, nobody could really replace Tipton and Downing. So that's what it is. On the one hand, the album thousands of old Priest fans have been waiting for for ten years, filled with tons of catchy tunes that are definitely classic material. On the other hand, it's basically Priest minus the awesome guitar leads. (Mike)

OVERKILL-Bloodletting
After 9 years, 7 studio releases and a live album featuring a kick ass dual guitar attack, Overkill has gone back to a single guitar lineup. This actually seems like it may be a blessing for Blitz and the boys. They still dub rhythm parts over the solos, but DD Verni's bass seems to be more agressive. Dave Linsk provides the shred for Bloodletting. His leads are as technical and thrashy as it gets. This guy is amazing. His heaviness is comparable to Bobby Gustafson. This album has some W.F.O. sounding songs, while being as intense and aggressive as The Killing Kind. As an old school Overkill fan, I really like this album. As a fan of the "new" sound of Overkill, (which to me means everything after Bobby Gustafson left), I STILL really like it. It's got heavy groove, classic Overkill speed, and low end thunder from hell, courtesy of DD Verni and Tim Mallare. For those of you who haven't liked Overkill on the last couple of albums, you might want to skip this. You won't get much new stuff out of it. But if you're like me and can't get enough Overkill, buy this. I KNOW you won't regret this one. (Ron)
