2007 Update: From an email I received from Earsplit PR: Southern Lord artists music in new Decaprio Film (11th Hour)!
Leonardo Dicaprio has hand picked songs by Southern Lord Recording artists: Khanate and Toadliqour for the soundtrack of his forthcoming film/documentary: "11th Hour". "The 11th Hour" is a documentary concerning the environmental crises caused by human actions and calls for restorative action through a reshaping of human activity. The Khanate track: "Torching Koroviev" (from their S/T debut album, cat#: sunn14) and Toadliquor track: "Charred" (from their eponymous album: "The Hortators Lament" cat#: sunn22) can be heard during the opening montage over the main title early in the film. Their chief inspiration is the Melvins. No wonder why I don’t like them. I have no idea what these guys are trying to do. It’s just so weird. They say they have monolithic sub-harmonic guitar drones. Whatever. I don’t like like, I don’t get it and I hope I don’t have to listen to their CD ever again.

TOADLIQUOR- The Hortator’s Lament
I honestly have no idea what this is, other than crap. I guess I shouldn’t really say crap, because it is crap to me, but someone out there might actually like this. They say in the insert “Toadliquor just doesn’t understand.” I don’t think I understand either, so now I don’t feel as bad. It’s doomy metal with some guy yelling. He sure isn’t singing or growling, he’s just yelling. This is a comp of their self titled LP they put out in ’94 and it says it’s for fans of Eyehategod, Grief, Neurosis, etc.
